Position Summary 
The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, monitoring, and scaling the enterprise platform services in our portfolio, spanning IAM, Communications, Payments, and API Gateways. Applying engineering best practices to help ensure a culture of software quality and operational excellence throughout the organization. This role will work directly with product and engineering teams to help define the platform roadmap and provide input towards the overall technical strategy.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and design leads to deliver highly-available, fault-tolerant products and services.
  • Work on significant and unique technical challenges, evaluate and recommend solutions, and guide decision making by considering technical tradeoffs.
  • Grasp both the technical and business perspective so you can help drive innovation.
  • Work autonomously and be self-disciplined, requiring no supervision or guidance.
  • Mentor and coach the team members to grow both their technical skills and soft skills.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 9+ years experience in backend or platform software engineering
  • Highly proficient in backend platform engineering, C#/.NET or TypeScript/Node.js, REST and GraphQL API design, event-driven messaging, OAuth 2.0/OIDC and token lifecycle
  • Proficient with agentic coding tools and AI-assisted development, including agent design and evaluation, MCP and tool integration, and prompt and context engineering
  • Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles
  • Passion for software development, emerging technologies and culture of innovation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, Terraform, and containerized workloads (Kubernetes/ECS)
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise API gateways (Kong, Apigee) and integrating third-party payment providers
  • Experience delivering software in a regulated environment (SOC 2, PCI DSS) and translating technical tradeoffs for business stakeholders
