As a Staff Product Manager, you will define the vision and strategy for Render's core platform, improve developer workflows, and collaborate with various teams to enhance user experiences.
The summary above was generated by AI

At Render, we're dedicated to building a powerful and user-friendly cloud that simplifies hosting for every developer and team. Our platform supports a wide range of applications, from simple static sites to complex multi-service architectures. By offering the flexibility of traditional cloud providers without their associated complexity and maintenance challenges, we enable our users to concentrate on product development instead of managing servers.

Our team is a diverse and talented group addressing universal challenges of software development. We prioritize rapid iteration while maintaining a strong focus on user experience, craft, and reliability. This commitment drives us to improve continually. Our organic, product-led growth has attracted over 2.5 million developers, with rapid growth of new developers signing up every month. Our customers trust Render for our reliable and scalable cloud with enterprise-grade capabilities, fully managed datastores, and advanced security and compliance features.

In January 2025, we reached a significant milestone by raising $80 million in Series C financing, bringing our total funding to $157M. This investment enables us to accelerate our vision of making cloud infrastructure both powerful and intuitive, while catering to the evolving needs of the AI era.

Applying to Render:

We're seeking candidates who possess high integrity, humility, and an insatiable drive to learn. Through reasoned discussions and continuous feedback, we strive to improve both individually and collectively. We foster an environment of mutual trust and respect, empowering effective debate to achieve the best outcomes for our customers and team.

We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed.

Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time.

About the Role:

As a Staff Product Manager at Render, you'll have the opportunity to shape how over 2 million developers build, deploy, and operate applications. You'll build features that developers on small teams to large enterprises ship and scale their projects without having to worry about the overhead of managing infrastructure.

You will:

  • Set vision, strategy, and goals for Render's core platform

  • Deeply understand how developers develop software today and identify opportunities to build products to accelerate and simplify development workflows

  • Identify and propose integrations with strategic partners to better support development teams

  • Build new services or add new functionality to existing platform features to better meet the needs of professional developers using Render

  • Collaborate with Developer Relations, Sales, and Marketing to learn more about our customers, from early-stage teams to enterprise, and their evolving needs and share this knowledge within the organization

We're looking for someone who has:

  • 10+ years of experience in a Product Management role, with most of that time working on Enterprise or core product teams or similar at a product-led growth and/or developer tools company

  • Experience and confidence in navigating the ambiguous, 0-to-1 phase of a new product area

  • Ability to inspire and champion big ideas that have a massive impact on the business and our customers

  • A love of high-quality, well-crafted user experiences and strong intuition for developer tools

  • Strong, successful track record of managing products with deep technical and business complexity

  • Ability to proactively anticipate challenges and the downstream effects of decisions, and take appropriate action to address

  • A knack for balancing user insights and data with creativity and intuition to identify novel but simple solutions to problems

  • Exceptional communication skills across writing and conversation

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience as a developer professionally or a technical background

  • Experience in a customer-facing role such as customer success or sales, particularly for a developer platform

Benefits:

  • Our openings span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between $207,000 and $285,000 USD. The provided salary depends on many factors, such as work experience and transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.

  • The opportunity is also eligible for equity with early exercise options and extended exercise windows.

  • 4 weeks of paid vacation, available from day one.

  • 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return.

  • Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans.

  • 100% employer-paid medical coverage and 99% employer-paid dental and vision coverage for you and a dependent. FSAs available as well.

  • Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental heath and therapy, hobbies, etc.

  • Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy.

  • Commuter benefits for Renders in the Bay Area, and home office stipends for remote Renders.

  • Continuous learning benefits & related support.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
