Are you a product leader passionate about shaping the next generation of customer interactions? Do you thrive on the challenge of building something new from the ground up? At Invoca, we are launching a brand-new team dedicated to pioneering our conversational messaging strategy. This is a rare "greenfield" opportunity to define a new product area, blending the agility of a startup with the resources and stability of an established market leader.

About the Opportunity: A Visionary Role with High Impact

As the founding Staff Product Manager for Conversational Messaging, you will be the driving force behind our product vision for SMS and webchat. Reporting directly to the VP of AI Product & Strategy, you will have the autonomy and strategic influence to shape how businesses engage with their customers through conversational AI.

This is more than a typical product management role; you are the key leader for a new, high-priority product area. You will partner with a newly formed, dedicated engineering team to transform innovative ideas into market-leading solutions. Your work will directly influence our product strategy, expand our platform capabilities, and solidify Invoca’s position at the forefront of AI-driven revenue execution.

How You'll Make an Impact:

Define the Strategy & Vision:

  • Craft and own the company’s conversational messaging strategy, identifying initial use cases that deliver immediate market impact while aligning with our long-term goals.
  • Develop and execute a product roadmap that leverages SMS & webchat best practices and cutting-edge AI capabilities to create a world-class conversational experience.
  • Partner with our Data Science team to push the boundaries of AI, ensuring our solutions are intelligent, customer-centric, and effective.

Drive Execution & Collaboration:

  • Lead a dedicated agile scrum team through the full product lifecycle, from breaking down requirements to creating and prioritizing features.
  • Serve as the key decision-maker for the product, facilitating cross-team alignment and ensuring your team delivers on value-based expectations.
  • Work closely with engineering, product operations, marketing, sales, and customer success to gather requirements and orchestrate seamless product releases.
  • Collaborate with UX Designers to integrate usability studies, market analysis, and customer research into product requirements, ensuring we exceed customer expectations.

Lead in the Market:

  • Act as the product owner for major company releases, crafting enablement materials, coordinating pricing & packaging, and representing your product at live events.
  • Ensure all conversational messaging solutions comply with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, TCPA).
  • Track and analyze product performance using metrics and customer feedback to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, competitors, and emerging technologies, evaluating new tools to keep our product offerings innovative and competitive.
What You Bring to the Team:

We are looking for a strategic and execution-focused product leader. Your experience is crucial, but your vision, collaborative spirit, and ability to navigate ambiguity are what will set you apart.

  • Proven Product Leadership: A strong track record in product management (7+ years), with significant experience in B2B SaaS and a focus on enterprise customers.
  • Conversational Messaging Expertise: At least 2 years of direct experience leading a conversational messaging product (SMS and Webchat), including strategy creation, pricing, and shipping successful products.
  • Deep Domain Knowledge: A thorough understanding of SMS & webchat best practices and the latest innovations in conversational AI / AI agents.
  • Strategic & GTM Experience: Demonstrated success owning a multi-team roadmap, managing vendor/partner relationships, and leading go-to-market efforts for large-scale releases.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Proven ability to lead and align cross-functional teams in a multi-product environment, translating complex concepts into actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional Communication: The ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences.
  • Agile Fluency: Deep experience with agile methodologies and tools, with a demonstrated ability to gather detailed requirements and find elegant solutions to complex problems.
  • Adaptability: You thrive in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is key and can balance the need for speed with the rigor required for scale.
  • Availability: Ability to travel occasionally for in-person meetings and be available during core business hours of 9 AM to 2 PM Pacific Time.

If you are ready to build, lead, and define a new category of products, we encourage you to apply.

This role is remote and open to candidates located in the United States and Canada only. Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
