Are you a design leader who brings systems thinking, user empathy, and product strategy together to shape impactful experiences? As a Staff Product Designer at Topstep, you’ll take the lead on complex, cross-functional initiatives that define how traders interact with our platform from vision through implementation. You’ll set direction, elevate design quality, and bring a strong user perspective to every conversation. This role is equal parts hands-on maker, strategic partner, and mentor ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity and wants to influence product direction at scale. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, business stakeholders to align around shared goals, uncover opportunities, and create experiences that are as intuitive as they are effective. Your work will shape how we build, how we design, and how users experience Topstep.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the design of complex user experiences across workflows, systems, and touchpoints
  • Set strategic direction through frameworks, vision work, and design principles that guide teams forward
  • Partner with product and engineering leaders to define roadmaps, scope solutions, and ensure quality through delivery
  • Translate user insights into compelling experiences, ensuring the voice of the customer is embedded in how we build
  • Mentor designers across the team offering feedback, shaping design reviews, and helping grow design maturity
  • Contribute to evolving the design system and scaling design standards across teams
  • Present and advocate for design decisions at the leadership level, aligning user needs with business goals

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies

  • 8+ years of experience in UX, product design, or interaction design
  • Track record of leading large-scale design initiatives from exploration through delivery
  • Strong systems thinking able to connect patterns, define reusable frameworks, and simplify complex flows
  • Fluency in turning research insights into actionable direction and validating designs through data and feedback
  • Expertise in collaboration, able to influence cross-functional decisions and drive alignment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present to executives and stakeholders with clarity and confidence
  • A passion for elevating design quality and mentoring others to grow their craft

New Hire Base Salary Range

  • $157,000-$218,000
  • Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
  • The compensation offered will take into account internal compensation structure and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
