The Role :
The Staff Full Stack Software Engineer for Quality Issue and Incident Management is responsible for developing software applications that support Issue and Incident management business process, spanning the product development lifecycle from Design through Production.
The ideal candidate for this role will be comfortable working with applications that involve complex data requirements and will provide solutions using proven, industry-standard methodologies. You will be directly involved in writing software or solutions based on detailed requirements and system specifications. Additionally, you will oversee development activities to ensure delivery of world-class capabilities aligned with GM's corporate and business objectives for Quality applications.
This role offers the opportunity to advise, coach, and mentor software engineers, while making a significant impact on this new application and helping to develop junior software engineers. Your expertise leading technical transition to cloud technologies such as Azure will be essential in transforming the application complex data and business logic into actionable insights.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities) :
Specifically, for this role you will expected to have demonstrated success in:
  • Developing enterprise-grade applications using Kubernetes/Docker, Quarkus, Java, Angular, and PostgreSQL, among other tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead GM's transition to cloud technologies.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
  • Lead cost optimization efforts to maximize efficiency and reduce expenses and monitor cloud environments, troubleshoot issues, and enhance performance.
  • Proactively engage in the identification / remediation of software issues such as code quality, pattern mismatch, and security issues related to the code or solution/configuration.
  • Providing guidance and mentoring of fellow software engineers and other team members.
  • Ability to navigating complex corporate environments and processes to remove project roadblocks.
  • Understands code quality analysis results and remediation mechanisms.
  • Strong Knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems.
  • Experience in implementing various branching strategies and sharing that expertise with your team.
  • Advanced CI/CD knowledge including automated builds and deployments and developing pipelines with GitHub Actions.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Document software solutions and ensure that technical documentation meets GM standards.
  • Understand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry standard methodology.
  • Lead the culture within their team, holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and modeling GM behaviors.

Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • 7+ years experience delivering full stack application development using Java/ JEE and Angular
  • 5+ years experience in Kubernetes/Docker or Quarkus, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • 3+ years experience working with complex SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures
  • 3+ years experience working in a SCRUM development methodology
  • 3+ years experience in languages such as Python and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Databricks)

What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
  • • Proven experience in migrations to Azure cloud including complex data requirements
  • • Experience working with DataStage
  • • Experience with Tidal automation
