Lead and own the frontend for a perpetuals exchange using TypeScript and React. Design order entry, positions, pricing displays, and charts, make trader-focused UX decisions, and operate autonomously on a small, fast-moving team.
The summary above was generated by AI

This role owns the frontend of Superluminal, a new perpetuals exchange built at Douro Labs, at the exact layer where the trading experience gets decided. This is not a role built around a fixed spec. It carries real ownership over how perps trading feels and works for the people.
Superluminal is built to be fast and to give traders better pricing than most exchanges currently offer. Perps is a crowded space, but it's also one with plenty of success stories, and the team believes Superluminal has what it takes to be among the best out there.

Location: US Remote Language: English (Fluent)

About the Team and This Role

Team Structure: The frontend team at Superluminal is currently a three-person effort, and this hire will be one of the first people working on it full time.

Ownership: This role carries a high degree of independence. Decisions made here ship fast and shape the product directly, with very little process in between.

Domain Fit: This role calls for someone who trades perps personally, or follows the space closely enough to have real opinions about it. That understanding of what a trader actually needs is what separates a good perps interface from a merely functional one.

Growth Path: The role is an individual contributor position day to day, with room to grow into a leadership role over time for the right person, though this is not a requirement.

Responsibilities
  • Build and own the frontend for Superluminal using TypeScript and React

  • Design the core trading experience: order entry, positions, pricing display, charts

  • Make UX decisions that reflect how a perps trader actually thinks, not just what's technically clean

  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy on a small, fast-moving team

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Senior or staff-level frontend experience, comfortable working with minimal oversight

  • Strong, hands-on skills in TypeScript and React

  • Genuine familiarity with perps trading, ideally as a personal trader or close follower of the space

  • Comfort using AI tools like Claude to move quickly, balanced with the ability to solve hard problems independently

  • Based in the US, or able to maintain strong overlap with a US-hours team

Nice to Have
  • Experience at another perps exchange or DeFi-native trading product

  • Some experience informally mentoring or leading other engineers

Do you think you have what it takes to build the frontend for Superluminal? We'd love to hear from you.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
