About the Team:
The mission of the Engine Manufacturing Department is to deliver high-performing products and innovative manufacturing systems while driving continuous improvements in cost, quality, and lead time. Through cross-functional collaboration, high levels of accountability, and a focus on safety we play a crucial role in building our reusable rocket, Terran-R. We are responsible for providing design feedback on new hardware iterations, pioneering and implementing advanced manufacturing methods and systems, and ultimately delivering engine and vehicle hardware for testing prior to launch. Over the past year, the Engine Manufacturing Team has successfully developed, iterated, and delivered processes and hardware for the first Aeon-R development engines. Now, we are entering a critical phase: producing flight engines that will pave the way for Terran-R's inaugural launch to orbit.
About the Role:
- Conceptualization, design, and buildout of complex manufacturing systems for rocket engine hardware
- Project manage buildout of new work-centers and production cells to enable production scaling
- Drive organization-level initiatives surrounding product development/continuous improvement
- Provide mentorship and training to engineers and technicians regarding manufacturability, best practices, documentation, and process control
About You:
- High school diploma or GED
- Extensive experience operating with minimal oversight in ambiguous environments
- Demonstrated experience building and operating complex manufacturing systems
- 10+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement high-impact process improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to project manage critical projects through execution
Nice to haves but not required:
- 5+ years of experience manufacturing hardware for rocket propulsion systems
- Experience with GTAW and/or Laser Weld processes
- Experience building and testing complex assemblies
- Experience working with machining, metal forming, and other subtractive manufacturing methods

We have two sites in Long Beach, CA's Space Beach: "The Wormhole," a 1M sq. ft. factory, once Boeing C-17's home. Nearby, "The Portal" supports Aeon R engine production for our Terran R launch vehicle.
