The summary above was generated by AI

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt failsafe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to five years without the need to refuel. Portable nuclear power with rapid deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators, and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development utilizes modern software engineering to rapidly achieve safe, factory-built microreactors that leverage existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor next year at the Idaho National Laboratory, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.

About the Role

We're building a new team to own Radiant's internal data infrastructure, executive analytics, and AI capabilities. As the Staff DevOps Engineer, you'll own the infrastructure that powers our data platform—ensuring reliability, security, and scalability for the systems that connect Finance, HR, Supply Chain, and Recruiting.

You'll work closely with the Software Engineering team on shared Databricks infrastructure, ensuring that operational analytics and reactor simulation workloads coexist smoothly. You'll also own CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and security compliance for our data systems.

What You'll Do
  • Own infrastructure: Deploy and manage Databricks, Fivetran, Airbyte, and supporting infrastructure on AWS
  • Administer Databricks: Manage workspaces, clusters, Unity Catalog, and SQL Warehouses (shared responsibility with SWE team)
  • Build CI/CD pipelines: Automate deployments for dbt models, connector configurations, and dashboard updates
  • Monitor and alert: Set up Datadog (or similar) for pipeline monitoring, data quality alerts, and infrastructure health
  • Ensure security compliance: Implement infrastructure that meets ITAR/EAR requirements; work with IT/Security on access controls, audit logging, and network configuration
  • Support the team: Enable Data Platform Engineers to ship quickly with reliable, well-documented infrastructure
What We're Looking ForRequired
  • 7+ years of DevOps or infrastructure engineering experience
  • AWS experience—EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, and related services (Radiant is AWS-based)
  • CI/CD pipeline development—GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar
  • Infrastructure as code—Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi
  • Scripting and automation—Python, Bash, or similar
Preferred
  • Databricks administration experience—workspaces, clusters, Unity Catalog, SQL Warehouses
  • Experience in regulated environments—SOC 2, FedRAMP, ITAR, or similar compliance frameworks
  • Experience with data pipeline monitoring and observability (Datadog, Monte Carlo, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Fivetran, Airbyte, or similar data integration tools
  • Experience supporting data engineering or analytics teams
Why Join Radiant
  • Mission: Clean energy that can go anywhere—few problems matter more
  • Team: Work alongside exceptional people from SpaceX, Blue Origin, and other top engineering organizations
  • Compensation: Competitive compensation with equity
  • Benefits: Health/dental/vision, 401(k), and flexible PTO
  • Ownership: You'll own the infrastructure for a critical new team—not maintaining someone else's system
  • Modern stack: Databricks, Fivetran, dbt, Datadog—best-in-class tools

This position requires the ability to work in the United States and eligibility for access to export-controlled information under ITAR/EAR.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
