  • Understand and assess the current data architecture; identify opportunities for improvement and scalability.
  • Partner with stakeholders across engineering, product, and analytics to gather requirements and align data needs.
  • Develop and present technical proposals that support both near-term solutions and long-term growth.
  • Lead hands-on development of data pipelines, modeling, and infrastructure within Snowflake and related technologies.
  • Evaluate and recommend modern data tools and platforms to enhance data reliability, performance, and usability.
  • Define and document best practices for data engineering, including coding standards, testing, and deployment workflows.
  • Mentor data engineers and help foster a culture of high-quality data engineering and continuous learning.
  • Drive adoption of new tools, frameworks, and practices across the team and broader organization.
  • Contribute to the foundation of Lyric’s Data Engineering practice, helping scale it with clarity and purpose.
  • Contribute to the overall Lyric’s data stewardship practice of managing and overseeing data assets to ensure they are accessible, usable, safe, and trusted, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with data governance policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong focus on building data pipelines and working alongside application engineering teams, with programming expertise in Python, .NET, and Spark technologies
  • 3+ years of experience with Snowflake data platforms, with a strong focus on data pipelines, performance tuning and database optimization techniques, demonstrated expertise in Snowflake concepts like setting up resource monitors, RBAC controls, scalable virtual warehouse, SQL performance tuning, zero copy clone, time travel, clustering and micro-partitions.
  • Experience in designing and building ingestion data pipelines using Snowpipe.
  • Hand on experience with building real-time continuous data streaming platforms, utilizing various modern data tooling technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with modern data ETL/ELT and orchestration tools, i.e., DBT, Airflow, Fivetran, etc.
  • Extensive SnowSQL experience in developing stored procedures, writing queries to analyze and transform data.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
