Exodus is seeking a Staff Bitcoin Engineer to take full ownership of Bitcoin integration in Exodus products. As a member of the team, you will optimize everything from UTXO management and fee estimation, to Taproot support, PSBT handling, and seamless multisig functionality. The ideal candidate has deep blockchain knowledge, understands the nuances of Bitcoin transaction construction, and knows how to build secure, user-friendly wallet experiences at scale. Experience with hardware wallet compatibility is a huge plus. If you’ve spent years in the weeds with Bitcoin and want to bring best-in-class Bitcoin UX to millions of users, we’d love to work with you.

What You Will Do

  • Own and lead Bitcoin development across the Exodus ecosystem, contributing high-impact, production-ready code that powers millions of wallets.
  • Continuously improve the Bitcoin user experience—from smarter fee estimation to smoother send/receive flows—across desktop, mobile, and beyond.
  • Drive conversations around architecture, features, and upgrades for our Bitcoin wallet, helping shape the future of how users interact with BTC.
  • Work closely with the Bitcoin indexing team to ensure accuracy, performance, and scalability of our indexing systems.
  • Proactively troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues, making the Bitcoin experience seamless, secure, and dependable.

Who You Are

  • You’re a seasoned veteran in the Bitcoin space having spent years deep in the protocol, building and shipping wallet integrations that real users rely on.
  • You know Bitcoin inside and out—from SegWit and Taproot to PSBTs—and you’re not just familiar with the standards, you know how to implement them securely and elegantly.
  • You're passionate about clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • You thrive when given full ownership of a product area, taking projects from architecture to deployment with confidence and care.
  • You're a JavaScript pro, fluent in crafting seamless front-end and back-end experiences. Whether it’s working with indexing infrastructure or building beautiful wallet UIs, you bring a strong product sense and a deep respect for what it means to build for millions of users.
  • You’re driven by a belief in self-custody and decentralization, and you want to build tools that give people true ownership of their money.

A Plus

  • You’ve contributed to Bitcoin Core or other major open-source Bitcoin projects, and care deeply about the future of the protocol.
  • You’ve worked hands-on with multisig setups and understand the real-world tradeoffs in usability and security.
  • You've integrated with hardware wallets like Ledger and Trezor, and you understand the nuances of secure signing flows, device communication, and user experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
