The Staff Accountant will manage daily accounting tasks, prepare journal entries, assist with monthly closing, and support financial reporting.
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with approximately 2 years of accounting experience to join their growing team. This role will support the day-to-day accounting operations of a service-based company, including maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, assisting with month-end close, and supporting financial reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant
Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Perform account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts
Maintain and update the general ledger
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
Support preparation of financial statements and internal reports
Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies
Assist with budget tracking and variance analysis
Help maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
Support external audits, tax preparation, and compliance requirements
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information
Qualifications of the Staff Accountant
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a service-based business
Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
Experience with accounting software or ERP systems
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
