The Staff Accountant will support monthly close activities, process improvements, and collaborate on building out the controllership function, emphasizing automation and modern accounting tools.
Flex is building a finance super app for premium business owners — reimagining every single aspect of the financial workflow and financial services for any entrepreneur. The company has grown revenue 25x+ since publicly launching in September 2023 and is on track to achieve profitability by late 2025. Flex is focused on mid-market businesses ($3 - $100M revenue) that are largely overlooked by existing fintech solutions and reliant on slow and outdated regional banks. We are targeting a ~$1T revenue opportunity that is largely up for grabs.
We are looking for a Staff Accountant who is eager to go beyond traditional accounting tasks. This role is perfect for someone with a solid foundation in accounting (education or 0–2 years of experience) who is passionate about process innovation and excited to leverage the best technology stack to automate and streamline our month-end close. You’ll play a key role in supporting the monthly close, building out the controllership function, and contributing to broader initiatives across the finance and accounting team.
✅ What You’ll Do
- Support the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports
- Collaborate on process improvements to automate and optimize close activities using modern accounting tools
- Assist in building out the controllership function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability
- Partner with finance leadership to implement best practices in accounting and reporting
- Contribute to cross-functional projects that enhance efficiency and strengthen financial operations
- Engage with cutting-edge technology to modernize workflows and reduce manual effort
⚡️ What You Bring
- 0–2 years of accounting experience or equivalent academic foundation in accounting/finance
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting basics
- Interest in process innovation and automation, with a desire to work on modern accounting tech stacks
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities during close cycles
- Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from and contribute to a growing finance team
- Proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
