Job Description Summary:

The Staff Accountant will assist with the accounting close process, ensure compliance with accounting standards and company internal controls, and will have significant involvement in all aspects of accounting operations.
This role is based full-time in our office in San Diego, CA. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review and maintain general ledger accounts as assigned, including cash and bank activity

  • Work closely with AR, AP, and Treasury to ensure cash activity is accurately reflected in financial records

  • Prepare documentation for external auditors

  • Reconcile discrepancies between subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger

  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation of all assigned general ledger accounts, including bank accounts

  • An understanding of basic matching principles of accounting, specifically prepaids and accruals

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve cash management

  • Maintain accounting records and other files for area of responsibility

  • Review, document and cost code operating expenses

  • Participate in all audits by pulling appropriate documentation for auditor selections

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Four-year business/accounting degree desired; pursuit of CPA license strongly recommended

  • 2-3 years of accounting experience, proficiency in General Ledger reconciliations and cash posting a plus

  • Solid understanding of accounting procedures and principles

  • Experience with on-line integrated accounting systems

  • Proficient in use of computer spreadsheet software and related applications, (Excel VLookups and Pivot Tables)

  • Ability to organize work and handle multiple projects

  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently

  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills, including professional telephone manner

  • Reliability, dependability and flexibility

$31.15 - $37.40
