Staff Accountant

• Prepare journal entries, account analyses, and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Support month-end close processes for the following areas: cash, payroll, accruals, and operating expenses.

• Perform bank reconciliations and assist with maintaining general ledger integrity.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.

• Respond to internal and external audit requests and assist with annual financial statement audit.

• Analyze fluctuations in financial statements to ensure completeness and accuracy.

• Partner with accounting management to improve accounting processes through automation and technology—leveraging AI tools for data validation, reconciliation, and reporting efficiency.

• Support implementation of accounting process enhancements, including AI-assisted workflows and analytics dashboards to improve accuracy and timeliness.

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

• Take ownership of preparing financial statement areas assigned to you (potential areas may include cash, payroll, accrued expenses, and operating expenses).

• Learn Virta’s accounting systems and AI-enabled tools to optimize reconciliations and journal entry workflows.

• Establish strong working relationships with teammates and cross-functional partners.

• Develop a deep understanding of Virta’s products and business model to connect financial reporting to operational drivers.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• 1–2 years of experience, ideally in a mix of public and private accounting.

• Ability to read and analyze financial statements and reports.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable learning new systems.

• Exposure to ERP systems (NetSuite preferred); interest in AI-driven automation tools a plus.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Comfort with ambiguity and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

• CPA or parts passed preferred.

Virta has a location based compensation structure. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. For this role, the compensation range is $64,700-74,000. Information about Virta’s benefits is on our Careers page at: https://www.virtahealth.com/careers.

As a remote-first company, our team is spread across various locations with office hubs in Denver and San Francisco.
