About the role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a strong foundation in corporate accounting while gaining exposure to a wide range of financial and operations initiatives.

What you’ll do
  • Accounts Payable: Enter, code, and process vendor information to enable payment of invoices with proper approvals. Resolve discrepancies, maintain accuracy, and ensure timely payments in line with company policy.
  • Accounts Receivable: Apply and reconcile customer payments, follow up on outstanding subscription balances, and assist customers with billing inquiries or payment issues.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Prepare monthly reconciliations for bank accounts as part of updating Hex's Balance Sheet. Investigate variances and post required entries to ensure accurate cash reporting.
  • Expense Reports: Review employee expense reports as needed for compliance and assist employees in situations where they are missing info. Help improve T&E workflows to reduce overhead across the company.
  • Corporate Credit Cards: Reconcile corporate card activity monthly before posting these entries onto our books. Ensure timely submission, accurate coding, and compliance with expense policy.
  • Prepaid Expenses/Fixed Assets: Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses and fixed assets, including appropriate amortization and depreciation. Record asset additions/disposals, and ensure accurate and timely month-end accounting for both categories.
  • Month-End Close – Journal Entries: Prepare recurring and ad-hoc journal entries. Support a timely close with accurate documentation and reconciliations.
  • Accruals: Record month-end accruals for expenses. Coordinate with team to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Financial Statement Package: Assist in compiling monthly reports for income statement, balance sheet, and supporting schedules for review by team. Reconcile assigned balance sheets accounts.
About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-2 years of experience in SaaS or a public accounting firm
  • A strong knowledge of US GAAP; conceptual and practical experience in researching and understanding.
  • Experience with technology, use of AI, and excited to build automation into Accounting
  • Experience using QuickBooks, NetSuite, Ramp, Stripe, and Salesforce
  • A self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and proactively drive business results
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and high degree of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are organized and execution focused, with an ability to work independently

The salary band for this role is: $70,000 - $85,000.
The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.
