What is JetZero?

Today’s aircraft contribute around 4% of global CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 200 million cars. This is only going to increase: Air travel is forecasted to double by 2050, while meaningful efficiency gains using current airplanes have hit a wall.

JetZero is developing a blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft. It uses up to 50% less fuel and will be built to accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. JetZero is the inevitable solution to sustainable air travel.

The JetZero team

We are experienced aerospace professionals and engineers, excited about the future. That future will only be possible if we share our vision and what it means to people’s lives: carbon-free flight that' is better for both passengers and airlines around the world.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop and validate linear and nonlinear flight dynamics models for transport-class aircraft.
  • Conduct stability analyses across the full flight envelope in line with 14 CFR Part 25.
  • Ensure compliance with handling qualities criteria (e.g., MIL-STD-1797, MIL-F-8785, Part 25).
  • Assist in the development and tuning of flight control laws for advanced aircraft.
  • Define stability & control requirements and allocate control authority for aerodynamic surfaces.
  • Correlate simulation results with wind tunnel and flight test data to enhance model accuracy.
  • Collaborate with teams in aerodynamics, structures, flight controls, and propulsion for integrated solutions.
  • Support certification by preparing documentation and compliance analyses for regulatory authorities.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in Part 25 transport aircraft stability & control analysis.
  • Strong background in flight dynamics, handling qualities, and control system design.
  • Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and Fortran or C++ simulation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of FAA/EASA certification requirements for stability and control.
  • Experience with system identification, eigenvalue analysis, and control allocation techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience with blended wing body or nontraditional configurations (preferred)
  • Background in high-lift system dynamics and control integration (preferred)
  • Knowledge of advanced control methods (e.g., robust/adaptive control).
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary optimization (MDO) for aircraft design.
  • Experience in wind tunnel or flight test campaigns (preferred)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
