This is a structured entry-level role for a law graduate or newly qualified paralegal who wants to build deep expertise in financial services regulation while working at the frontier of regulatory technology. You'll be onboarded and mentored on the regulatory content — we don't expect you to arrive knowing MiFID II. We do expect you to be rigorous, curious, and committed to getting things exactly right.
You'll sit at the point where legal source material meets our data pipeline and machine learning models — reviewing regulatory change, validating how our models classify and structure that content, and making sure what appears in our platform matches the authoritative source line for line. You don't need to be a data scientist, but you'll become the human judgment that keeps the machine honest.
Key Responsibilities
Review regulatory change
- Monitor and review changes to in-scope regulations and exchange rulebooks (e.g. EU and UK financial services regulation, exchange and CCP rulebooks).
- Assess what has changed, when it takes effect, and how material it is, and make sure those changes are captured accurately in the platform.
- Maintain a clear, auditable record of your review decisions.
Validate the ML topic modelling
- Review the output of our machine learning topic models to confirm regulatory content is being classified to the correct topics.
- Flag misclassifications and edge cases, and provide structured, labelled feedback that feeds back into model improvement.
- Help keep our topic taxonomy and data definitions consistent and fit for purpose as regulation evolves.
Check rulebook structural integrity
- Compare integrated and consolidated rulebooks in our platform against the original regulatory source to confirm the structure matches — article and section hierarchy, ordering, versioning, and effective dates.
- Identify and escalate gaps, missing provisions, duplication, or extraction errors.
- Work with the product and engineering teams to get issues resolved and to tighten the controls that prevent them recurring.
Build the service
- React to client demand for additional data to help us build the service quickly
- Review and provide quality assurance against written development requirements
- Work with Software Engineering to process new regulation from capture through to the product
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A law degree, paralegal qualification, or equivalent legal training.
- Any exposure to financial services regulation, RegTech, or a legal/compliance environment through study, internship, or work experience.
- Genuinely strong attention to detail. You notice when something is one clause out of place.
- The discipline to follow structured review and QA processes consistently and keep clear records of your decisions.
- Clear written communication — your review notes and feedback need to be usable by both lawyers and engineers.
Nice to have
- An interest in financial services regulation. You don't need to have worked in it, but you should be genuinely curious about how it works and willing to develop real depth in it.
- Curiosity about how AI and machine learning tools work, even without technical experience. We'll teach you the rest.
- Exposure to regulatory data sources such as EUR-Lex / CELEX, FCA Handbook, exchange circulars, or rulebook publication feeds.
- Experience with tools like Jira and Confluence.
