Acorns is seeking a contract Sr. Copywriter to join the Creative team! You’ll write, edit, and concept against all brand, marketing, and business development content. We’re looking for someone who can write against every channel imaginable: podcasts, TikTok videos, emails, commercials, web, in-app copy — if there’s something that needs to be written, you’ll help shape it.

Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely within the United States, while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.

This role is being offered on a contract basis with an expected duration of 3 months with potential to expand based on business need and requiring 40 hours of work per week.

What you’ll do at Acorns:

  • Develop end-to-end copy for a wide range of deliverables, including digital ads, lifecycle emails, landing pages, in-product messaging, scripts, social campaigns, and brand experiences.

  • Apply and reinforce the Acorns brand voice across all touchpoints ensuring consistency, clarity, and craft at scale.

  • Support copy development for large-scale launches, including campaign naming, taglines, and positioning frameworks, using established strategy to guide execution across channels.

  • Translate campaign-level messaging frameworks into channel-specific executions, adapting ideas thoughtfully while preserving core strategy and voice.

  • Partner closely with creative leadership and cross-functional teams to develop ideas, present work, and iterate based on feedback from senior stakeholders.

  • Push creative thinking within briefs — bringing strong points of view, asking smart questions, and helping elevate ideas to be more emotionally resonant and aligned with Acorns’ values.

  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners as needed, contributing to reviews and ensuring all copy reflects Acorns’ standards and brand voice.

What you'll bring to Acorns:

  • 6+ years of copywriting experience, ideally within in-house brand, product, or creative teams, with a strong portfolio demonstrating concept-to-execution thinking across channels.

  • Background writing for finance, investing, fintech, or money-related products, with the ability to translate complex or regulated topics into clear, compelling, human language.

  • Hunger to deliver game-changing products.

  • Exceptional drive and precision in delivery.

  • A belief that your work is tied to your life's mission.

  • Optimistic about the potential of societal change

You are not expected to have experience with all listed requirements. If you feel passionate about Acorns' mission, vision, and values, please apply.

What we offer:

  • Competitive hourly rate

  • Talented and motivated team members who care deeply about one another, our mission, and our customers.

  • The rare opportunity to create a new world. We inspire one another every day to do meaningful work that solves big societal challenges.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
