At Basis, we empower agencies and brands with cutting-edge software that automates digital media operations. Our all-in-one platform supports seamless planning, reporting, and financial reconciliation across direct, programmatic, search, and social media.
We’re not just building advanced technology; we’re also building a culture where passionate, motivated individuals come together to drive meaningful change. Our commitment to inclusivity and growth ensures our employees thrive both professionally and personally.
With our headquarters in Chicago, we offer flexible work options across the U.S. and Canada, including remote, hybrid, or on-site at headquarters.
ABOUT THE TEAM
At Basis, the DSP Product team powers the growth of our advertising business by building the systems that make programmatic buying scalable and efficient. From bidding and pacing algorithms to shared services, we enable teams across the organization to ship reliable, data-driven features that deliver measurable value to advertisers and maximize performance at scale.
As a Senior Technical Product Manager on the Basis DSP team, you’ll work closely with business stakeholders, operations teams, engineers and architects building scalable backend components, designing robust APIs, defining platform governance, and leading adoption strategies across teams. You’ll also partner with other PMs and designers to understand domain-specific needs and translate them into platform capabilities that unlock future innovation.
This role is ideal for someone who loves building behind-the-scenes products, thrives on technical complexity, and enjoys collaborating with both engineers and business stakeholders.
WAYS YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE
- Own and evolve core programmatic workflows (planning, targeting, bidding, pacing, budgeting, delivery).
- Develop and apply advanced AI/ML techniques — such as bidding optimizations, budget pacing models, multi-objective optimization, and forecasting to improve performance and maximize ROI.
- Partner with Engineering and Data Science to deliver high-quality execution and continuous innovation.
- Writing Product documentation (Confluence pages, PRDs, Technical specifications) that guides engineering and aligns stakeholders.
- Deliver reporting, measurement, and attribution that drive transparency and performance insights.
- Ensure platform reliability, low latency, and scalable real-time bidding and data pipelines.
- Define and enforce privacy, compliance, identity, and data governance standards.
- Collaborate with Sales, CS, and Marketing to drive adoption and monetization of DSP capabilities.
- Leading the rollout of new DSP capabilities, including release planning, testing strategies, and enablement resources.
- Managing technical debt and advocate for long-term architectural health, balancing velocity with maintainability.
- Driving alignment across teams for governance standards and platform best practices.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- 5+ years of experience in product management, including 2+ years in a technical or platform-facing PM role.
- Strong foundations in Data Science and Machine Learning.
- Proven ability to collaborate with engineers on system design, APIs, data structures, and architecture trade-offs.
- Familiarity with backend systems, micro-services, database modelling, and event-driven architectures.
- Proficiency in working with SQL and comfort reviewing technical documentation and code snippets (you don’t need to code, but you should speak the language).
- Experience launching internal tooling, APIs, or platform components that serve multiple teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can explain complex systems to non-technical stakeholders and influence them through clarity.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, identifying patterns across diverse teams, and aligning on shared solutions.
- Experience working with advertising APIs, marketing automation, or ad tech platforms is a strong plus.
- A mindset of servant leadership. You care about making other teams more successful.
BONUS POINTS
- Hands-on experience building and managing ML/AI-powered features
- Strong background in A/B testing, experimentation frameworks
- Background in software engineering or a related technical discipline.
OUR TECH STACK
- Ruby, Java, Python, and React.js
- Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka
- PostgreSQL, NoSQL

With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
- Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
- Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
- Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
