Hi There!

Zapier is seeking a Technical Product Manager to join our Enterprise team. You will own and drive a complex technical product roadmap and initiatives that require deep technical understanding and cross-team execution. You'll own the technical product roadmap, which includes, but is not limited to, data residency, cell architecture planning, HIPAA compliance, Bring-Your-Own-Key encryption, security projects, and more. You’ll be responsible for making technical trade-off decisions, defining architectural requirements, and driving engineering teams toward cohesive solutions that deliver customer value.

You will partner and collaborate with engineering and product leaders across multiple teams to push for consensus and make decisions when teams have conflicting approaches, determining the path forward for complex technical challenges. We will rely upon you to understand the product architecture and customer requirements to facilitate technical tradeoffs where needed. You must be strong in execution, detail-oriented, and able to work cross-team to identify issues before they impact teams. You must be able to drive accountability across the organization.

Success Looks Like

  • Complex technical initiatives like data residency and HIPAA compliance are delivered on schedule, with full regulatory requirements met

  • Cross-functional technical dependencies are resolved efficiently through your technical decision-making rather than prolonged coordination cycles

  • Enterprise customers receive technical capabilities faster because you drive architectural decisions instead of deferring to multiple stakeholders

  • Technical debt in enterprise systems decreases as you identify and address architectural conflicts early in the development process

  • Engineering teams across zones actively seek your involvement in technical initiatives, viewing you as essential to their success

  • All build teams accelerate the delivery of enterprise-driven capabilities while maintaining quality and compliance standards

  • Our Commitment to Applicants

  • Culture and Values at Zapier

  • Zapier Guide to Remote Work

  • Zapier Code of Conduct

  • Diversity and Inclusivity at Zapier

My name is Jenica, and I’m the Director of Product for Enterprise at Zapier, and this role will report to me. Zapier, we like to share our README’s so you can get to us too; here’s mine.

About You
  • Engineering Background: Started as an engineer or have deep technical experience with complex infrastructure/platform initiatives like AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Vercel, and engineering tooling like Datadog, Databricks, OpsLevel, Incident.io.

  • Technical Program Experience: Led large-scale technical programs like data residency, compliance frameworks, microservices migrations, or similar multi-quarter initiatives—including hands-on setup and management of Jira (or similar service), structuring cross-organizational projects, and applying agile operations best practices for tracking and delivery.

  • Execution Excellence: Proven ability to define technical roadmaps and drive them to completion

  • Cross-Company Influence: Build strategic networks across the organization to stay informed of company-level developments and influence technical decisions through informal relationships, not just direct team alignment

  • Enterprise/Compliance Context: Experience with regulated industries, security requirements, or enterprise-scale infrastructure challenges

  • Driver Mentality: Look around technical corners, resolve cross-team misalignment, and remove friction—the type of person engineering teams are willing to trade headcount for

  • Comfortable in Ambiguity: You lead change effectively, introducing and implementing new processes, tools, and ways of working while ensuring smooth adoption and sustained impact—using influence and alignment rather than mandates.

Bonus Points

  • Data Residency/Compliance Experience: Built or delivered compliance roadmaps (HIPAA, SOC2), data residency solutions, or enterprise security features

  • Platform/Infrastructure Background: Experience with cell architecture, encryption key management, or large-scale infrastructure migrations

  • Multi-Region Technical Experience: Delivered technical solutions across different geographic regions with varying compliance requirements

Things You’ll Do
  • Own Technical Product Outcomes: Define and own meaningful goals for complex technical initiatives, fostering a culture focused on outcomes rather than outputs. Drive measurable business impact through technical solutions that solve real customer problems, not just successful project delivery.

  • Drive Technical Product Decisions: Make technical approach and sequencing decisions for complex initiatives spanning multiple systems like data residency, HIPAA compliance, and Bring-Your-Own-Key encryption

  • Own Technical Trade-offs: Determine which compliance requirements require new infrastructure vs. configuration changes, balancing customer needs with engineering costs and technical feasibility

  • Consult with customers: You will work with customers to help shape the future technical roadmap through customer calls, feedback sessions, and working with prospective customers.

  • Build Technical Product Roadmaps: Create and execute multi-quarter roadmaps for enterprise-driven technical initiatives, working backwards from customer commitments to define executable plans

  • Define Technical Requirements: Translate enterprise customer needs into specific engineering requirements that teams can build against

  • Accelerate Technical Delivery: Remove friction and push the engineering team to make technical decisions quickly rather than scheduling more meetings. Establish repeatable agile processes for cross-team coordination, and leveraging tools like Jira to manage and track complex, cross-org projects end-to-end

  • Master Technical Context: Understand complex technical systems and requirements to communicate dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs to stakeholders—and rapidly learn unfamiliar technologies when needed.

How to Apply

At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.

Education is not a requirement for our roles; however, if you receive an offer, you will need to include your most recent educational experience as part of our background check process.

After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
