About ALSO.
We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.
ALSO is looking for a Sr. Staff Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Engineer to develop and maintain high-fidelity vehicle models for ride, handling, braking, steering, and stability analysis!
What You Will Do
Develop performance targets and inform kinematics and compliance to achieve them
Perform multi-body dynamics (MBD) simulations to evaluate suspension kinematics and compliance characteristics.
Use Road Loads Data Acquisition and Simulations to generate durability and abuse loading criteria
Conduct full-vehicle simulations (longitudinal, lateral, vertical dynamics) to support performance targets.
Correlate simulation models with test data and refine models for improved accuracy.
Support track and road testing activities by analyzing instrumentation data and validating simulation outputs.
Collaborate with chassis, controls, powertrain, and tire teams to optimize system-level vehicle performance.
Perform sensitivity studies and DOE analyses to guide design decisions.
Contribute to control strategy development (e.g., ESC, torque vectoring, active suspension)
Familiarity with vehicle dynamics and tire modeling and simulation concepts
Drive development with data by creating objective metrics that align simulation with real-world performance, designing and supporting vehicle tests to gather high-quality dat
Support vehicle performance target setting and objective KPI development.
What You Will Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of experience in vehicle dynamics or automotive simulation
Strong understanding of:
Ride & handling fundamentals
Tire modeling (Pacejka / MF models preferred)
Suspension kinematics and complianceLongitudinal and lateral vehicle dynamics
Experience with at least one of the following tools:
CarSim / TruckSim
Adams/CarSimpack
MATLAB/Simulink
VI-Grade
Data analysis skills using MATLAB, Python, or similar.
Familiarity with vehicle testing instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
The salary for this position ranges from $200,000-$250,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Why ALSO.
We’re passionate about helping the world find a better way to get there—wherever it is you’re headed.
