We're looking for a talented Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our API & Cloud Platform team. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Engineering/Shared Services, you'll be responsible for:
- Contributing to the design of an API platform for Zscaler products, focusing on standardization, governance, and delivering an exceptional developer experience
- Driving innovation and refining the API development processes, tools, and integration methodologies across Zscaler’s product portfolio
- Developing scalable microservices and SDKs for programming languages like Java, Go, and JavaScript, ensuring smooth API integration and high availability
- Participating in system performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing operability to ensure reliability and security
- Mentoring engineering teams and fostering collaboration across cross-functional groups to enable scalability, secure architecture, and efficient solutions
What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications):
- 7+ years of experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, JavaScript) and 5+ years in API framework design and cloud technologies focused on developer experience
- Strong knowledge of API design standards, best practices (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI 3.0, REST, JSON, Authn/z), and API-first design principles
- Proficiency in developing microservices and containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)
- Familiarity with distributed systems concepts, including caching, queues, pub/sub architectures, and monitoring solutions
- Experience collaborating with product managers to align development efforts with external-facing products and business goals
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Proven ability to build SDKs and developer tooling that integrate seamlessly with APIs across various ecosystems
- Expertise in workflow automation, developer environment setup, and process standardization using open-source or proprietary tools
- Background in using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and deep knowledge of observability for high-performing distributed systems

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
