GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high performance, minimal maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission.
Position description
Our Senior Staff Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff, working across the organization to provide friction-less experience for our customers and maintain the highest standards of compliance, protection and availability. You will be part of a team that thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge of the Identity Lifecycle, Access Management principles and solutions that ensure secure authorization to GEICO’s data assets.
Position Responsibilities
As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will:
- Lead architecture and design efforts for IGA on our access governance platform.
- Focus on multiple areas and provide leadership to the engineering teams.
- Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve our toughest IGA problems.
- Own the complete project lifecycle for application integrations of both on-premises and SaaS applications with our IGA platform.
- Own accountability for the quality, usability, and performance of our Identity Lifecycle engineering solutions.
- Lead in design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.
- Mentor junior team members professionally to help them realize their full potential.
- Consistently share industry best practices and improve processes within and across teams.
Qualifications
- Engineering experience with an industry leading IGA solution such as Saviynt, SailPoint, and Okta.
- Experience in delivering Access Controls requirements for regulatory compliance such as SOX, PCI, and NYDFS.
- Experience in access control principles including ABAC, RBAC, UARs, JIT, PAM, and Least Privilege access mechanisms.
- Experience in on-premises and SaaS application integrations with an Identity Governance solution, leveraging SCIM, API, and connector frameworks.
- Fluency and specialization with at least one modern language such as Python, Java, Go, or Rust.
- Experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise level Identity Access Management solutions that integrate with Azure AD, Active Directory, and AWS.
- Strong knowledge of modern authentication mechanisms such as MFA, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and SAML.
- Ability to scope, design, and build scalable solutions for Identity Governance Administration.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, able to communicate complete technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience
- 8+ years of professional software development experience within C.
- 5+ years of experience with architecture and design.
- 4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks.
- 1+ years of people management experience.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Annual Salary
$130,000.00 - $260,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
