Performs general accounting functions for the department and work closely with other members of the Accounting Team. Provides supervision of personnel and leads within the department when the manager/supervisor is unavailable.
Knowledgeable of GAAP principles and, for Hospital Accounting roles, OSHPD guidelines for financial preparation.
Key functions include:- Completes account analyses, bank reconciliations, and other schedules in a consistent and timely manner, researches and identifies anomalies and provides report to management.
- Reviews designated accounts for reasonableness and accuracy, evaluate and make necessary adjustments prior to period end
- Completes Journal Entries in accurate and timely manner, ensuring appropriate accounts are recorded to, entries balance and adequate supporting documentation
- Serves as subject matter expert for Journal Entries, reviews Journal Entries prepared by others for accuracy.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly Sales Tax reporting.
- Performs special analyses and research as requested for departments and/or vendor questions, annual audits, cost reports, tax reporting, Fixed Asset management and/or Cash.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience
- Working knowledge of general ledger systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead others
