Sr Software Engineer (VB.Net - C# - SQL)

Job Description

We’re on the lookout for a Senior VB.NET Software Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft technologies to join our team.

As a Senior VB.NET Software Engineer, you will be part of a high-performing team responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting enterprise applications built primarily with VB.NET and Windows Forms. This role requires a strong passion for software development, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. You will work on modernizing and extending legacy applications while ensuring stability, performance, and maintainability across multiple systems.

While the primary focus is VB.NET development, familiarity with C#, SQL Server, and REST APIs is important, as the team also supports satellite applications and integration services built with these technologies. As a senior member of the Scrum team, you will contribute to technical decisions, uphold coding standards and best practices, and collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Location: LATAM 100% Remote. Working hours are based on the US Central Time Zone.

Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze software requirements and business needs to design and implement effective technical solutions.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications primarily using VB.NET and Windows Forms.
• Work with SQL databases to create, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain queries, stored procedures, and data integrations.
• Support and maintain existing applications, including troubleshooting complex issues and resolving production defects.
• Contribute to projects involving C# applications and services when required.
• Maintain and support integrations with internal and external systems through REST APIs.
• Follow established coding standards, source control practices, testing procedures, and software development best practices.
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to identify opportunities for application improvements and modernization.
• Assist with technical documentation, software testing, and deployment activities.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Responsible for protecting, securing, and properly handling all confidential data held by the Company to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience using VB.NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework.
• Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining Windows Forms applications.
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, and database design.
• Working knowledge of C# and ability to support applications built on the .NET ecosystem.
• Experience consuming and maintaining RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Experience working with legacy applications and modernizing existing codebases.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and software architecture best practices.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of complex software issues.
• Knowledge of unit testing and software quality practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
• Experience with CI/CD processes and automation tools is a plus.
• Experience with web technologies, cloud platforms, or modern .NET development is a plus.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with React is a plus.
