The Traffic Protection team at Yahoo innovates, designs, and develops scalable systems to detect and filter abusive traffic for all Yahoo sites.
Our team is building the next generation of highly scalable systems to process and filter web-scale traffic. We partner with scientists and innovate on various technologies, including machine learning methodologies, to better understand traffic and content.

If you are an outstanding, self-driven engineer with hands-on experience developing highly-performant software and looking for exciting challenges, we’d like to talk to you. As a Software Dev. Engineer in the anti-abuse platform team, you will help us develop and deliver key components of the anti-abuse solutions, as well as ensure that the quality and performance of the components developed are
exceptional.
You will design, build, and deploy scalable platforms, leveraging Yahoo’s distributed computing technologies. You will also contribute to the development and evolution of the supporting tools and ecosystem of our Traffic Protection platform. You will lead design discussions and implementations in smaller groups and sub-projects.
Your Day
You will spend your days doing things like:

Design and develop scalable platforms, primarily in C/C++ on distributed systems
-
Develop large-scale traffic protection systems and tools and/or contribute to
-
Ensure quality and performance of components developed
-
Active participation in understanding systems in detail, in debugging and providing technical support & maintenance and in design/code reviews
-
Exercise Agile development methodologies to create platform services and features
You Must Have
-
5+ years of professional software engineering experience
-
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
-
Good programming skills, preferably in C/C++
-
Good systems understanding and debugging skills
-
Good understanding of computer networking concepts including familiarity with HTTP and associated protocols
-
Solid fundamentals in data structures and algorithms
-
Experience in cloud native application development and architecture preferably in GCP or AWS
-
Well versed in the Linux environment
-
Shaping technical requirements into design documents and software implementation
-
Excellent communication and self-organization skills
-
Good experience in building and supporting high performance/scalable systems - preferably 4+ years

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
