The Company

Bigeye is on a mission to help enterprises trust their data. When used effectively, data can create magical experiences in services and products we all use every day. But those experiences suffer whenever data is delayed, missing, or low quality. Nearly every major enterprise still struggles to keep their data pipelines reliable and to maintain data quality, and can no longer afford to sift through a mess of manually created data quality rules.

Some of the world’s largest enterprises—like Burberry, Hertz, Cisco and RNLI—have realised they need a more scalable approach, and now use Bigeye’s industry-leading data observability platform to keep their mission critical data applications running smoothly. Our unmatched support for enterprise-oriented data sources, and industry-leading data lineage capabilities, give us a unique foundation from which to serve enterprise data teams.

The scale of this challenge is incredibly exciting: we already check over 3 million data quality attributes and 3 Trillion lineage assets every day for our customers, but estimate that only 2% of the addressable market has made the switch to using data observability.

Come join us in the journey to serve the other 98%.

The Team

As a Sales Engineer, you will be part of the Field Engineering team at Bigeye. Led by Bigeye’s co-founder and Field CTO, the Field Engineering team uses technology to build solutions - for our prospects, our customers, our partners, and ourselves. We are an experienced team that grasps how critical data is to the business, how the quality of data impacts informed-choice making, and the pressure data teams are under to deliver that high-quality data 24/7.

Field Engineering prioritizes team accomplishments over individual contributions. We are a small and nimble team, where everyone is eager to help solve customer problems. You will never feel alone or stuck, and will have the whole strength of decades of experience with data and engineering behind you.

In addition to this, you will work with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to address the needs of data teams everywhere with Bigeye, the most innovative and advanced data observability platform. In this role, you will work directly with data innovators, analysts, scientists, and engineers at our prospects, customers, and industry-partner teams.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Help prospects and customers advance data-driven culture and drive concrete business outcomes.
  • Trailblaze a rapidly emerging market by evangelizing the value, ease of use, and speed of Bigeye.

  • Design and implement industry specific demonstrations and POCs that create repeatable and concrete outcomes for prospective customers.
  • Assess the economic benefits of Bigeye and gain consensus among stakeholders across the business.
  • Attend conferences, seminars and events related to the industry to keep our market awareness sharp.
  • Collect and share product feedback across the Bigeye Product and Engineering team.
  • Reply to RFIs, RFPs and RFQs.
  • Teach and showcase Bigeye for prospects, partners, and customers using customer success stories, and other assets.

  • Desire to solve a problem once and then automate it
  • Comprehension of database management practices: partitions, indices, schema design, etc.
  • Knowledge of both ETL and ELT approaches to data pipelines.

Preferred Experiences
  • 2+ years of Sales Engineering experience in B2B SaaS data products
  • Comprehension of at least one major cloud infrastructure provider (AWS, GCP, Azure)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
