Lead microgrid construction projects from contract signature through commissioning. Manage schedules, budgets, contractors/EPCs, third-party agreements, and cross-functional alignment. Track costs and schedules, resolve conflicts, and help develop the Project Management function.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Project Manager to drive exciting and innovative microgrid projects in various locations across the West.
You will report to the Senior Director, Project Management, and work on a hybrid basis out of either our Santa Monica or Oakland, CA offices.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Serve as the project manager for individual microgrid construction projects for our customers from contract signature through commissioning
- Ensure our internal company functions (i.e., Business Development, Engineering, Service) are aligned throughout the project execution process
- Prepare project schedules, operating rhythms, and sequence of operations to ensure all stakeholders (customers, contractors, material/ equipment vendors, and local regulatory agencies) are informed and engaged
- Evaluate and manage 3rd party agreements and relationships with Contractors/EPCs and other material and service providers
- Manage bid solicitation, bid review, selection, contractor negotiations, and establish and maintain project budgets
- Track project costs and schedules to ensure the project is delivered on time and on target
- Proactively identify and resolve conflicts and develop and implement viable solutions
- Inform the development of our Project Management function to keep pace with our company’s rapid growth.
The Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of experience in construction management, general contracting, logistics, engineering, energy industry, or military experience
- An understanding of building code and regulations
- Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
- Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Proactive and mission-driven behavior
- Able to work autonomously and be comfortable representing Scale in customer-facing situations
- Highly organized and self-motivated, with determination to work through challenges
- Team player who supports the growth of others with experience managing direct reports
- Competency in Procore, MS Project (or similar scheduling software), G-suite/MS Office
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
