Overview 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager/Program Manager to join a forward-thinking team in the Oil & Gas industry. This is a technology-driven role that will require an individual who is not only proficient in project management but also passionate about piloting new technologies as well as developing and integrating cutting-edge solutions. The successful candidate will have exposure to subsurface reservoir systems and experience with energy project development. . The Senior Project Manager will play a critical role in managing large-scale, high-impact CCUS projects, particularly those related to subsurface characterization technologies and pre- & post-combustion capture systems. You will help lead innovative technology programs aimed at improving efficiency, reducing emissions, and advancing sustainability initiatives. This is a remote consulting engagement for 6 months+. Qualified candidates must live in the United States to be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Technology Pilot Programs: Manage the implementation and piloting of new technologies related to subsurface characterization and pre- & post-combustion capture, ensuring these innovations are integrated into project workflows and meet performance expectations.
  • Project Leadership: Oversee and drive large-scale projects from inception to completion, ensuring that they meet technical, financial, and schedule objectives. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that new technologies are effectively adopted and executed.
  • Project Appraisal & Feasibility: Conduct project appraisals with a strong focus on emerging technologies in subsurface characterization, evaluating the technical feasibility, economic viability, and risk associated with the introduction of new solutions.
  • Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with research and development teams to evaluate and assess new CO2 processing technologies and post-combustion capture solutions. Be an advocate for technology adoption, helping to bridge the gap between R&D and operational teams.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including technology vendors, contractors, regulatory bodies, and clients. Effectively communicate the value proposition of new projects and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Risk Management: Implement risk management strategies that take into account the potential challenges associated with new technology deployment, addressing technical, operational, and financial risks.
  • Technology Integration: Ensure that the latest technology solutions are seamlessly integrated into the existing engineering designs, promoting operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensure all projects are executed with an emphasis on safety, quality, and environmental performance, adhering to the highest industry standards.
  • Budget & Schedule Management: Monitor and control project budgets and schedules, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, particularly when implementing new technology solutions.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project engineers and technical specialists, particularly in areas involving subsurface processing and technology integration.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that projects comply with relevant local, regional, and international regulations, especially those pertaining to environmental impact, subsurface operations, and new technology implementation.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management and key stakeholders, reporting on progress, risks, and technology performance.
Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field). A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience: 6-8 years of experience in project management within the Oil & Gas industry, with a focus on subsurface processing, combustion capture and/or technology integration.
  • Strong track record of leading technology-driven projects, particularly in the areas of subsurface characterization and pre- & post-combustion capture.
  • Experience piloting new technologies from concept to execution and understanding their integration into operational workflows.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of carbon capture, CO2 sequestration, and emissions management technologies is required.
  • Familiarity with industry-leading design tools and simulation software used in subsurface and environmental applications.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, etc.) and basic knowledge of engineering design and tools.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams, with a focus on driving technological innovation and adoption.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical challenges and integrate new technologies into existing systems.
  • Technology Focus: Prior experience in driving technology change in carbon capture or related emissions technologies.
  • Sustainability Knowledge: Familiarity with sustainable practices and technologies related to reducing environmental impact and carbon footprints.

Compensation

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Colorado, Sand Cherry Associates is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and delivery model. This is a longer term consulting engagement, with an expected 6 months+ extension project. This role has a hourly rate of $80-95/hr. Years of experience, level of education, geographic location, unique skills/qualifications for the specific role and potential certifications can be key factors in the final compensation for this role.
