Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Product Vision & Strategy: Develop and implement the product vision and strategy for data schemas and interfaces in Aurora Postgres.
- Backlog Management: Create, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog to ensure the team is working on the most impactful items.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including application teams, to gather requirements, understand needs, and ensure alignment on objectives.
- Data Design: Conceptualize and contribute with data team on financial planning data (Entity relationship Diagram) to be structured in the database to support application features, ensuring data is organized for optimal user experience and functionality. Knowledge of how to manage the Client lifecycle within the application and datastore.
- Data Schema Implementation: Participate in the implementation of data schemas in Aurora Postgres, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry standards.
- Data Flow Determination: Analyze and design data flows to ensure efficient data movement and integration across systems.
- Data Security: Awareness of data governance and compliance regulations specific to the financial planning sector. Understanding of the key principles of data security as they relate to user trust and regulatory compliance, data retention & privacy. Enabling the team to advocate for necessary security measures in product development.
- Interface Exposure: Define and expose interfaces for application teams to consume data, ensuring they are user-friendly and meet security standards.
- Documentation: Ensure comprehensive documentation of data schemas, data flows, and interfaces to support ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA teams to ensure the accuracy and quality of data schemas and interfaces.
- Performance: Work with the team to establish KPIs and success metrics for the product deliverables. Ensure that the team collects relevant data to measure performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve the product management processes and practices within the team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, with a focus on data schemas, data flows, and interfaces.
- Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of relational databases, specifically Aurora Postgres.
Experience with data modeling, schema design, and SQL. - Basic understanding of Data Integration Patterns and Tooling including ELT/ETL, EII, Replication, Event Streaming, and Virtualization to support batch and real-time data needs.
- Knowledge of API design and development.
- Agile Methodology: Proven experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment. Familiar with principles of product development flow. Product owner certification preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire a cross-functional team.
