JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Senior Product Manager for Search, you will lead the end-to-end strategy and execution of FOX One’s search experience. Your mission is to make it effortless for subscribers to find and engage with content across live sports, breaking news, and premium entertainment—using the latest advancements in AI, natural language processing, and large language models to push the limits of discoverability.

You will be responsible for driving both the user interface and the intelligence behind search. This includes optimizing traditional query systems while also exploring and integrating generative AI tools that support conversational search, context-aware results, and personalized recommendations. You’ll work closely with engineering, data science, machine learning, design, and editorial teams to turn AI advancements into intuitive, high-performance features across mobile, web, and CTV platforms.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the product roadmap for FOX One’s search experience, balancing near-term improvements with future-facing AI capabilities

  • Lead the integration of AI and LLM-based tools to enable conversational search, semantic understanding, and intent-based retrieval

  • Improve relevance, ranking, and retrieval quality using modern NLP and deep learning models

  • Design and optimize user interfaces for search, including filters, autosuggest, recent activity, and multimodal inputs like voice

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Data Science teams to refine indexing, ranking, and vector search systems

  • Partner with editorial, metadata, and taxonomy teams to ensure critical content is discoverable and contextually ranked

  • Define and monitor success metrics such as search satisfaction, engagement rate, click-through, zero-result frequency, and time-to-content

  • Drive experimentation and A/B testing to validate new search capabilities and refine UX across platforms

  • Ensure that FOX One’s search experience is fast, scalable, accessible, and consistent across web, mobile, and connected TV

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 6 to 8 years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on search, NLP, or discovery experiences

  • Proven ability to define and deliver large-scale search systems for consumer-facing products

  • Familiarity with AI-driven search tools, vector databases, embedding models, and LLM-based UX flows

  • Understanding of NLP fundamentals including ranking, parsing, query rewriting, semantic similarity, and entity recognition

  • Experience collaborating with ML and data science teams on model design, training, and evaluation

  • Strong ability to analyze user behavior, define search metrics, and use experimentation to drive iteration

  • Effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional stakeholders, including editorial and design

  • Passion for building future-forward search experiences that simplify discovery and maximize user engagement

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience implementing or evaluating generative AI solutions for semantic search, summarization, or chat-based navigation

  • Hands-on familiarity with Elasticsearch, Solr, Algolia, or vector search platforms like Pinecone or Weaviate

  • Knowledge of federated search approaches and unified content discovery systems

  • Background in media, entertainment, or streaming products with deep and dynamic content catalogs

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
