The Product Engineer will design and develop frontend interfaces using React and TypeScript, collaborate with operations and manufacturing teams, and oversee feature implementation from concept to production.
At Layup Parts, our mission is simple: deliver composite parts faster. We’re not just another machine shop—we’re a technology-first manufacturing startup that’s revolutionizing how composite tooling and parts are made for the aerospace, defense, and motorsports industries. Our customers are developing tomorrow's high-tech products, and we are building technology to accelerate their success.
We are looking for a Product Engineer, primarily focused on frontend, who can take features from early concept to production release. You’ll collaborate directly with founders, operations, and manufacturing teams to shape the tools enabling real-world production workflows, streamline internal processes, and deliver a great experience for both our team and customers.
What You’ll Do:
- Design UX flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI in Figma.
- Build clean, maintainable React + TypeScript interfaces for internal systems and customer-facing apps.
- Own features end-to-end: requirements, design, implementation, testing, rollout, and iteration.
- Partner directly with production, operations, and engineering to understand workflows and translate them into intuitive digital tools.
- Contribute to our design system and build reusable components.
- Integrate with backend APIs and participate in API design discussions.
- Identify UX issues, propose improvements, and help shape product direction.
About You:
- Be awesome! Be the kind of person you want to work with!
- Experience in frontend, product or full-stack engineering.
- Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern component architecture.
- Skilled in UX/UI design with Figma and capable of turning designs into polished interfaces.
- Comfortable working directly with end users and owning features in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong eye for usability, clean UI, and thoughtful interaction design.
- High autonomy, strong ownership mindset, and interest in understanding physical workflows.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with MES, ERP, scheduling, or other internal operational tools.
- Background in manufacturing, industrial engineering, composites, or CAD/CAM.
- Familiarity with backend technologies and languages (Go, Python, Node).
- Experience with design systems or component libraries (MUI, Radix, Tailwind).
- Exposure to data modeling, metrics, or analytics.

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
- Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
- Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
- Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
