Manage supplier relationships and contracts, oversee procurement processes, develop internal systems, and use analytics to improve efficiency. Must adapt to a fast-paced startup environment.
We are a composites manufacturing startup looking to push the boundaries of “traditional” procurement. Our goal is to stand out as a modern supplier within a legacy supply chain; we want to work with individuals who can think outside the box to achieve company objectives. Our organization moves quickly, and you must too.
Our procurement team has two primary goals:
· Production never stops due to a procurement issue.
· Procurement is a helpful resource for the rest of the company (NOT a hindrance)
This role will work closely with the COO, CEO, and Business Operations team members. The primary goal of this role will be to build up procurement internal systems (budgeting, purchase approval, direct demand planning, enhanced inventory management, team organization into procurement categories), establishing relationships with legacy suppliers, establishing a broader procurement strategy, and executing day to day procurement transactions.
As an early-stage startup, we’re looking for someone who can further the strategic while addressing the tactical. You are a person who can maintain day-to-day operations while developing programs and strategies for six months, 1 year, or 3 years in the future. Pay, title, and job description are flexible.
What You Will Do:
- Supplier Management: manage preferred supplier relationships. Identify areas of need or risk, and establish relationships with new suppliers. Create and implement programs to develop and continuously improve the performance of all suppliers, as well as tracking supplier performance.
- Contract Management: Responsible for review and management of all supplier contracts, with support from COO. Understand all contract terms and apply creativity and sound business reasoning to adjust contracts as required.
- Material Demand Planning: Maintain awareness of sales quotes, review incoming sales orders, monitor existing stock, and place orders as needed to ensure that we maintain appropriate quantity of materials on hand.
- Internal System Development: 1) establish processes to ensure that we never run out of material and are ready to execute on new sales orders 2) minimize material waste and expiration 3) understand material ETAs and properly evaluate suppliers’ on time delivery 4) establish project cost tracking 5) implement budgeting and purchase approval requests
- Negotiation: Negotiate to maximize value, save time, or lower risk.
- Analytics: Use analytics to identify areas of opportunities to save money, and also to measure your contribution to the company.
- Responsible for all day-to-day procurement.
Required:
- Be awesome! Be the kind of person you want to work with!
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in procurement, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations or supply chain management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role requires a high level of interaction with both internal and external customers
- Experience in startups or small teams in fast-paced and quickly changing environments.
- Comfortable in environments with little to no established systems or structure.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills; addresses all work with sense of urgency. Enjoys working on many different tasks in one day and understands how to prioritize the most critical.
- Conducts all activities with the highest integrity.
- Position may require extended hours or weekend work
Preferred:
- Familiar with finance and accounting methods of cost classification.
- Familiar with ITAR regulation or experience in a workplace where ITAR policies are implemented.
- Familiar with AS9100 processes, in the context of supplier evaluation and direct / indirect material classification.
- Experience in manufacturing or aerospace.
- Remarkable problem-solving skills.
