Develop and test rover and ground-support power avionics hardware from initial design through flight. Responsibilities include power electronics architecture, PCBA requirements, Altium schematic capture and layout, circuit analysis, reliability studies, design verification and qualification testing, system integration, design reviews, and manufacturing and flight support.

The Staff Power Electrical Engineer will participate in all aspects of the development and test of power avionics hardware for Astrolab rovers. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in power electronics design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and testing.

What you'll do:
- Own the development of vehicle power electronics from clean sheet to flight. For example: solar power conversion, battery management systems, power distribution and load management, voltage regulators, etc
- Develop and implement PCBA requirements, use-cases, and system integration
- Schematic capture and PCBA layout for power and analog circuits in Altium Designer
- Design analysis including power, size, mass, Monte Carlo tolerances, and reliability related
- PCBA design verification testing, qualification testing, and system integration testing
- Lead design reviews for inter-disciplinary audiences.
- Manufacturing and flight support as needed
What you'll bring:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field
- 5+ years of experience in power electronics design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and testing
- Expertise in solar power, voltage regulation, load management, fault protection, power transmission, analog instrumentation, and digital circuits
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with schematic capture and layout of complex PCBAs
- Experience performing circuit analyses in SPICE and Excel
- Proficiency with basic electronic lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, soldering iron, etc.
- Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment
