Job Description:

Technology is at the heart of Disney’s past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney’s media business globally.

The team marries technology with creativity to build world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are Storytellers and Innovators. Creators and Builders. Entertainers and Engineers. We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company’s media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world.

Here are a few reasons why we think you’d love working here:

Building the future of Disney’s media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney’s technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company’s brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. ABC News…and many more. These products and brands – and the unmatched stories, storytellers, and events they carry – matter to millions of people globally.

Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

Commerce, Data & Identity provides the core product management functions for areas crucial to Disney’s media businesses. These include initiatives and products that power digital commerce, identity, and growth, as well as those that reach uniquely across The Walt Disney Company enterprise, such as messaging and privacy, among others. Additionally, it is responsible for the data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment & ESPN, along with their interconnection with other parts of The Walt Disney Company.

At Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product and Technology, we are experiencing explosive growth, reaching 225M total subscriptions globally across our streaming product portfolio. As we continue acceleration across all our streaming services (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+) we are looking for a Senior Product Manager who will focus on acquiring new and returning subscribers through our sign-up flows.

The Senior Product Manager will own the strategy and execution across the commerce organization to create first-class experiences to acquire new subscribers to our services within Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology. This is a global role with broad scope across all platforms that our products are offered — website, mobile app, and streaming devices. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of user motivations and the variables that influence purchase decisions among a multitude of product offerings. They must also be passionate about acquisition and build for scale, while being flexible enough to adapt for regional requirements.

If you are someone whose dream job sits between business strategy and engineering, you are an expert in both crafting a vision and driving successful execution, and are excited to build scalable features that will drive global growth for years to come, we invite you to apply for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Define the vision and priorities to maximize subscriber acquisition within our Commerce sign-up flows by focusing on business outcomes and delightful consumer experiences.

  • Continuously analyze KPIs and acquisition performance to identify and execute on A/B experiments. Leverage both quantitative and qualitative data to target the right offer to the right customer.

  • Partner with engineering, design, and program management teams to deliver work on time and with high quality.

  • Socialize and gain alignment for requirements across other product management domains such as identity, billing, and payments.

  • Communicate and document plans effectively to organize work for execution, both feature releases and experiments.

  • Partner with regional stakeholders around the world to address consumer, legal, and regulatory nuances while solving for global scale.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, marketing, legal, user research, data science, platform and media delivery teams.

  • Identify new opportunities and effectively influence the Product roadmap with executives and workstream leads through the use of data and strong Product sense.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of product management experience or advanced degree, focusing on driving business outcomes through executive alignment and flawless execution.

  • Detail-oriented, technical, can design and interpret data, and can propose high-yield bets to drive and exceed goals.

  • Solid understanding of statistics concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression analysis) and UX best practices.

  • Exceptional written and verbal skills, a proven ability to articulate a team vision and translate technical concepts into material that can be broadly understood across the company.

  • Ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations and a fast-paced environment with constantly evolving business needs.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
