Sr. Paralegal / Corporate Counsel
Company: Voltage Energy
Reports to: Chief Legal Officer
Location: Hybrid

About the Role
Voltage Energy is building a best-in-class legal function to support a rapidly scaling business. We’re hiring a high-caliber Sr. Paralegal or Corporate Counsel to work directly with the Chief Legal Officer across a broad range of legal, compliance, and operational initiatives.
This is not a traditional support role. You’ll operate as a core member of the legal team, with exposure to executive leadership, investors, and strategic company decisions. This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow beyond a conventional paralegal or junior legal track and make a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead day-to-day legal execution across contracts, NDAs, vendor agreements, and internal documentation
  • Help build and scale legal systems, templates, and processes
  • Support corporate governance, including board materials and entity management
  • Partner with HR on employment matters, policies, and risk management
  • Support equity administration and compensation planning with finance and leadership
  • Manage international legal matters and coordinate with outside counsel
  • Own contract lifecycle management and process improvement
  • Conduct legal research and deliver practical, business-focused guidance
  • Identify legal and compliance risks and propose proactive solutions
  • Operate cross-functionally as a trusted partner to leadership
  • Act as a force multiplier for the CLO with independent execution

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, or high-performing paralegal role
  • Strong contract experience with a meaningful volume of agreements
  • Comfort operating autonomously in a fast-moving, high-growth environment
  • Business-minded approach to legal problem-solving
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable working with senior leadership
  • Collaborative mindset and solutions-oriented approach

Juris Doctor (JD) preferred but not required — exceptional paralegals are encouraged to apply

Strong Plus

  • Experience supporting public company legal functions
  • Familiarity with AI-based legal tools, contract automation, or legal tech workflows
  • Background in energy, infrastructure, or other regulated industries
  • Experience building or scaling legal operations and processes
  • Experience supporting international operations
  • Experience with Regulatory Affairs or Construction Law.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. The Company will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of any employment visa, including without limitation, H-1B, O-1, E-3, TN status, or I-485 job portability or similar immigration processes.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
