About Hippo:

Hippo was built on a promise: make homeownership effortless. Nearly a decade later, that mission still drives us. We use technology and data to help our customers stay ahead of problems and protect what matters most.

Today, that same tech-native approach powers our work beyond homeowners. Hippo operates as a diversified carrier platform, partnering with MGAs to deliver tailored program solutions that help them grow and deliver better customer experiences. Behind that work is a team that values ownership, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

If you're energized by building what's next, we'd love to meet you.

About The Role:

You're an insurance operations or compliance professional with 5+ years of experience who thrives on bringing order to complexity — you can take a dense regulatory requirement and translate it into clear, actionable direction the business can actually execute on. You're highly organized and comfortable owning multiple concurrent workstreams and deadlines without someone checking in on you, and you naturally spot process gaps and fix them before they become bigger problems.

You've worked cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Operations, or Product teams, and you communicate complex regulatory language in a way that builds trust rather than confusion.

You take pride in accuracy and follow-through, whether that's a data call response, a carrier audit, or a state recovery filing, and you're ready to step into a senior, high-visibility role where you'll mentor peers and serve as the go-to person when compliance matters get complicated.

About You

You are detail-oriented and comfortable operating in a regulated environment. You have experience handling escalated or compliance-sensitive matters and can draft clear, professional written correspondence.

You are confident communicating directly with customers in complex or sensitive situations and can remain composed and objective under pressure. You can navigate complex or escalated customer situations while maintaining regulatory integrity and objectivity.

You thrive in structured processes, manage competing deadlines effectively, and are comfortable collaborating cross-functionally to investigate and resolve complex issues. You are adaptable and willing to support broader Regulatory Response functions as needed.

What You'll Do:

Operational Compliance Bridge (MCE)

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Legal/Compliance and business teams, translating regulatory and legal requirements into clear, actionable direction
  • Work with business areas to help them understand what is being asked of them, supporting workload prioritization and timeline management
  • Review and validate business deliverables before they are returned to Legal or Compliance to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Track open compliance items across business areas and proactively manage to resolution
  • Lead complex or high-priority MCE initiatives end-to-end, coordinating across multiple business stakeholders
  • Identify process gaps in how compliance changes are adopted by the business and drive improvements

Regulatory Change Management

  • Support the end-to-end lifecycle of regulatory insurance changes, including how they are identified, communicated, and implemented across processes, systems, and forms
  • Partner with business areas to assess the operational impact of regulatory changes and develop implementation plans
  • Monitor regulatory updates and ensure affected business areas are informed and prepared to act
  • Lead regulatory impact assessments and facilitate cross-functional planning sessions for significant changes
  • Maintain a centralized regulatory change log and reporting framework for leadership visibility

CVE & Lender Documentation

  • Manage all CVE and Lenderdoc documentation requirements, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment
  • Coordinate with business areas and external partners to ensure lenderdoc required documentation meets compliance standards
  • Maintain up-to-date records and documentation logs for all CVE and Lenderdoc related activities
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline CVE and Lendersoc documentation workflows

State Recovery

  • Support state recovery activities, ensuring all required filings, documentation, and follow-up actions are completed accurately and on time
  • Coordinate with the appropriate business areas to gather information and respond to state recovery requests
  • Own state recovery strategy for assigned states, managing all aspects from identification through resolution

Data Calls

  • Manage the end-to-end response to data calls, coordinating data collection across business areas and ensuring submissions are accurate, complete, and on time
  • Maintain documentation of all data call submissions and responses
  • Develop and maintain data call response templates and playbooks to increase efficiency and consistency

Carrier Audits & Surveys

  • Coordinate carrier audit and survey responses, working cross-functionally to gather required documentation and data
  • Track audit and survey timelines, ensuring all deadlines are met and responses are complete
  • Maintain organized audit and survey files for reference and future use
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for carrier auditors, managing relationships and communications throughout the audit lifecycle
  • Lead post-audit reviews and drive corrective action plans where applicable

RCMNs (Regulatory Compliance Matter Notifications)

  • Manage the receipt, routing, and resolution of RCMNs, ensuring the appropriate business owners are engaged and responses are timely
  • Track RCMN status and escalate issues proactively to avoid missed deadlines or incomplete responses
  • Develop and maintain an RCMN response framework and reporting dashboard for compliance leadership

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance operations, compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements and how they apply to business operations, processes, and documentation
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and deadlines

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
