Job DescriptionGuardant Health is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure Engineering team. This role is pivotal in architecting, deploying, and managing secure, scalable, and high-performance network solutions across our global enterprise, data centers, campus, and cloud environments.
As a senior engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our network strategy, driving automation, enforcing security, and ensuring the seamless connectivity that powers our life-saving technologies. This position demands deep expertise in network architecture, strong hands-on experience with modern infrastructure platforms, and a forward-thinking approach to evolving technologies such as SASE, SDN, automation, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
● Architect & Build: Design and deploy robust, resilient network infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments with a focus on scalability, security, and performance.
● Advanced Configuration: Configure and manage Cisco routing and switching infrastructure (IOS, IOS-XE) including integration with Cisco DNA Center and ISE for policy-based automation and secure access.
● Security Leadership: Administer and optimize Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Panorama, and Prisma Access; ensure secure edge and remote access leveraging modern SASE architecture.
● Cloud Networking: Design and manage AWS network services such as VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and custom routing/security policies to support scalable and secure cloud deployments.
● Core Protocols: Implement and troubleshoot advanced routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies (802.1Q, 802.1X), ensuring reliable interconnectivity and segmentation.
● Network Services: Oversee DNS/DHCP/IPAM infrastructure with an emphasis on automation and high availability.
● Monitoring & Optimization: Proactively monitor network health, performance, and availability using advanced tools; lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
● Collaboration & Support: Partner with cross-functional teams including Security, Cloud, and DevOps to deliver integrated infrastructure and security solutions.
● Documentation & Governance: Maintain comprehensive documentation; follow ITIL/DevOps-based change control and incident management processes.
Qualifications
● 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering with a focus on high availability, security, and automation.
● Deep technical proficiency with Cisco routers/switches, Cisco DNAC, and ISE; proven ability to design and manage large-scale campus and data center networks.
● Familiarity with Cisco CyberVision, SEA or equivalent platforms.
● Strong expertise in Palo Alto Networks technologies, including firewalls, Panorama, and Prisma Access.
● Experience administering DDI solutions (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) such as Infoblox or equivalent platforms.
● Proficiency in core networking protocols: OSPF, BGP, 802.1Q, 802.1X, and L2/L3 switching.
● Demonstrated success managing AWS cloud networking, SDN, including hybrid and direct-connect architectures.
● Familiarity with Juniper Mist or equivalent modern wireless platforms is a plus.
● Practical knowledge of network automation frameworks and tools such as Ansible, Terraform, DNAC APIs, and Python scripting for orchestration and repeatability.
● Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills; capable of leading projects and mentoring peers.
● Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, or PCNSE are highly preferred.
Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $96,560 to $132,770. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations for the posted role with the exception of any locations specifically referenced below (if any).
For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $113,600 to $156,200. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.
Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
