Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Network Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis for our client, a worldwide leader in the technology and media space. The Sr. Network Engineer will serve as a leader for the global network & telecom team and will have ownership of the technical planning and carrier services. While this group manages operations in 20+ countries worldwide, this role will take the lead on implementing and supporting network infrastructure on North American sites.  Requirements

Essential Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer complex data network solutions and act as technical resource to other problems to resolve problems.
  • Ensure a high-degree of client satisfaction by participating in Change Management Processes, Design Reviews and meetings
  • Responsible for coordinating and implementing multiple projects
  • Participate in the design and support of Internet, VPNs, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, etc.
  • Turn conceptual ideas into complete network designs.
  • Utilize and be familiar with Networking standards and practices including, ANSI, IETF, ISO, ITU-T, IEEE, NIST.
  • Design, implement, and configure IP routing protocols such as BGP-4, ISIS, and OSPF.
  • Ability to work independently but collaborate within a team environment
  • Prepare network diagrams, proposals, bill of materials, and assist in the selection of internetworking devices to meet project requirement deadlines.
  • Work with corporate departments, local system personnel and contractors as required to manage installation and deployment of networking equipment.
  • Assist in development of project scope documents in conjunction with project teams. Limited to no travel required.

Qualifications

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years relevant experience in support & implementation role on supporting large heterogeneous enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience in managing and trouble-shooting complex network infrastructure in LAN/WAN environment with expertise in Routers, Switches, Firewalls, WAN Accelerators.
  • Competency in following technical areas: Networking Protocols/Services BGP, OSPF, IPSec, GRE, HSRP/VRRP, NAT/PAT, SNMP, MPLS, VPLS, QoS, Multicast, STP, 10GigE, Gig E, 10/100 Ethernet, T1, DS3, GTM, LTM, DNS, Application Firewalls etc.
  • Experience dealing with and troubleshooting Telecom carrier circuits issues (SONET, T1, DS3, OC3, OC12, OC48, etc).
  • Good understanding of the MPLS technology and applications such as L3 VPN, L2 VPN and VPLS from a provider point of view.
  • Knowledge of standard Network monitoring practices and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of the global carrier services.
  • Must have documentation skills and be proficient with MS Visio.
  • Knowledge of Juniper MX, EX and SRX platforms is preferred.
  • Understanding of Peering, MPLS, Wireless and VoIP technologies.
  • Understanding of ARIN and accepted Internet routing and addressing practices.
  • Understanding of the effects of latency/delay, jitter, packet loss and other performance metrics.
  • Operational knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Extreme, Alcatel devices or willingness and capability to learn fairly quickly.
  • ITIL V3 Service Operations knowledge preferred
  • San / NAS – preferred

Non-Technical Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Experience with direct customer interaction with the client as a technology partner.
  • Strong, clear and concise communications and speaking skills.
  • Ability to work in a global virtual team environment.
  • Ability to work in a highly visible fast paced environment with minimal supervision and SLA deadline responsibility.

Desired Education:

Network certification (CCNA, CCDP, and/or CCNP) is preferred.
