Lead Apollo's visual identity and brand presence, overseeing brand strategy and design to enhance brand engagement among developers.
Are you passionate about visual storytelling and creating brands that developers genuinely love?
As a key member of the Marketing team, you will lead Apollo's visual identity and brand presence to become the most trusted name among builders and platform engineers.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, you'll own our brand strategy and visual direction while sharpening our existing brand to craft compelling experiences that resonate with developers. Your role combines strategic brand leadership, technical understanding, and hands-on design execution to amplify Apollo's voice in the developer ecosystem.
In this role, you'll lead our integrated visual efforts across web, digital campaigns, and experiential marketing to create powerful brand moments that resonate with platform engineers and developers. We're looking for someone with a specialized background in developer-focused design who can create compelling visuals that drive awareness and market engagement.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and oversee all aspects of Apollo's brand and visual design, ensuring a cohesive and appealing aesthetic that resonates with developers and the builder community
- Develop and maintain brand guidelines and create high-quality visual content, including brand graphics, illustrations, and digital assets for our website, social media, email campaigns, and developer-focused platforms
- Create and oversee visual assets for marketing campaigns, web experiences, product interfaces, conference materials, presentations, and experiential marketing
- Craft visual narratives that communicate Apollo's story, mission, and value proposition effectively to technical and business audiences
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on integrated marketing initiatives, playing a pivotal role in crafting innovative campaigns that address real API pain points
- Stay at the cutting edge of design trends within the developer tools, API, and broader technology space, bringing fresh, opinionated perspectives on brand development that authentically connect with builder culture
About You
- You're an exceptional visual storyteller who can translate complex technical concepts into compelling design that sparks engagement
- You have 6+ years of experience in brand and visual design, preferably with developer-focused or B2B technology companies
- You understand the developer ecosystem and have experience creating visual content for technical audiences that engages, fosters, and grows community
- You're a self-starter who thrives on evolving established brands and measuring design impact
- Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and modern design tools, with understanding of responsive design principles and web design best practices
- You understand GraphQL and API concepts (or are eager to learn)
- Strong grasp of what resonates with developer culture - you know the difference between authentic technical communication and marketing that feels forced
- You're energized by the opportunity to help Apollo become the most trusted brand among builders
Bonus
- Previous experience at developer tools, API companies, or open-source projects
- Understanding of motion design, animation, or emerging design technologies
- Background in developer community building or technical content creation
- Experience managing creative relationships with agencies and external partners
