At US Foods, Next Gen Pricing is one of the large enterprise transformation initiatives, a multi-year, multi-phase journey to create an integrated, agile, pricing and analytics platform that serves as a single source for all pricing execution while proving customers with reliable and market appropriate prices. This platform will deliver improved case growth and profitability contributing to significant EBIDTA benefits. The Pricing Software Engineering Manager will be primarily responsible for building and delivering high quality and performant pricing solutions that meets the transformational goals of Next Gen Pricing. This role is responsible for leading a team of software and support engineers within the Pricing Product team, lead projects effectively ensure alignment, communication, and collaboration with multiple vendors, across different functions and locations.
This leader will be responsible will be responsible for establishing and improving on the Hybrid (Agile & Iterative Waterfall) Continuous Delivery methodology throughout the pricing product development lifecycle. This role requires working in a highly matrixed environment including organizing and scaling multiple composite scrum teams with vendors and other product teams, ensure each product team has the right resources to deliver effectively, establish process and remove impediments to improve engineering effectiveness.

Flexible Work Policy: The work for the Sr Manager Pricing Software Engineering position is completely 100% remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories.  This position may have the potential to travel up to 20% dependent on business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Deliver on-time, on-budget, on-quality, on-fit service(s) or Product(s)

  • Manage the overall delivery of the pricing solutions end-to-end, from design, implementation, ensure quality delivery, documentation, and support/ maintenance.

  • Bring a product mindset to guide from initial discovery through continuous delivery advocating for an automation first approach.

  • Partner with Revenue Management Business Stakeholders, Pricing Product Management and Architects to guide the strategy and roadmap to deliver products that meets the transformation goals.

  • Serve as a technical expert to influence and deliver high reliant, high scalable and high performant pricing solutions using modern technologies, and establishing design patterns, practices, governance, and processes.

  • Identify, evaluate and make decisions on the new emerging technologies, tools and concepts that enrich and elevate digital capabilities for pricing.  Prototype and productization of new concepts/ideas in an agile way.

  • Maintain high trust relationships in a large complex matrixed environment that includes working with multiple business department, multiple pricing vendor teams, cross multiple functional DigitTech product teams, and cross roles within the pricing product teams.

  • Responsible for setting standards and mechanisms for development including acceptance criteria, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and unit testing; streamline operational experiences by establishing an efficient support process; develop monitors and KPIs to track system health & performance.

  • Drive teams to contribute to roadmap, backlog prioritization, architecture & design, build vs buy, etc.

  • Develop full stack engineers with deep knowledge on both pricing domain and web/cloud-native/SaaS technologies including Java, Mulesoft, TIBCO, Kafka, Kubernetes, SQL/ NoSQL, APIs, NodeJS, AWS, NewRelic, Jira, TestRail, etc; tuning performances of application, API, batch jobs, and database/ SQL queries; triage and troubleshoot pricing and technical issues.

  • Establish an effective Hybrid (Agile & Waterfall) development framework to develop, align and execute against the Pricing roadmap not only with Pricing Ecosystem, but also with vendors and other Digital and Data Product teams

  • Hire, retain and lead high-functioning, diverse group of development and support engineering professionals, managing hybrid team models located (onshore, near-shore, offshore), establishing clear objectives, key results, and driving towards resolution of challenging problems.

  • Coach and mentor a cross matrixed and diverse team. Foster a culture of emotional intelligence, high trust, direct feedback with individuals, manage performance to achieve their individual development goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Training:

•           Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience development, devops, and support functions in IT

  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience

  • 3+ years owning product teams and successfully delivering multi-year, multi-million, large-scale agile transformation programs

  • Experience working with SaaS Solutions with extensive focus on building data-centric applications and real-time integrations

  • Proven experience with development and maintenance of complex multi-tiered architectures, realtime integrations with 7+ systems, and extensively tuning systems for performance and reliability.

  • Collaborate effectively and act as strategic partner to deliver high quality product in an agile way

  • Experience with hiring, attracting, motivating, coaching, retaining, and developing engineers developing expertise in full stack web/ cloud native technologies, devops, configuring SaaS platform, batch vs realtime integrations, etc.

  • Experience partnering with multi-vendor scenarios spanning SaaS vendors, Service Integrators, and independent consultants

  • Experience managing large matrixed team of 10+ members inclusive of associates and consultants across multiple locations onshore, near-shore and offshore

  • Fostered an inclusive culture and thrive in growing teams and organization

  • Exhibit strong decision making and advanced problem-solving ability

  • Exhibit strong delivery skills with experience in defining and tracking various success metrics and KPIs to measure delivery and quality

  • Excellent organizational, inter-personal and planning skills

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to describe technical solutions and explain value to leadership and business partners

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with pricing platforms or related ecommerce technologies.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders including business, vendor professional services and consultants.

RELATIONSHIPS

•           Internal: Business Stakeholders and End Users, IT Leadership, IT Delivery (Sr. Product Owners, Product Owners/ Business Analysts, Scrum Masters, Developers, Quality Engineers, Architects, Program Managers, etc.), cross-functional product/ application teams

•           External: SaaS Vendors including Zilliant, iCertis; Service Integrators (SI)

SUPERVISION:  

10-15 direct reports and contractors

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law.  The expected base rate for this role is between $104.600 - $156,900.

This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus.
