The Package Development team collaborates with the Founder/President and all cross-functional teams to develop and execute new color and skincare products from concept through execution with a focus on designing for recyclability and utilizing sustainable materials. This role manages all phases of process to ensure products are launched on-time and on budget while maintaining aesthetics, quality and performance.

WHAT YOU DO

  • Works closely with Product Development and cross-functional teams to manage and execute on all project phases, monitoring project timelines and milestones
  • Project responsibilities include but are not limited to new development, resourcing, sampling, collateral, etc.
  • Understand the scope of project and provide detailed briefs to suppliers and internal partners
  • Source and develop stock and custom primary and secondary packaging
  • Create Bill of Materials and fill & assembly instructions including packout standards
  • Facilitate artwork requests and gather dielines/deco areas and required information for Creative and Production departments
  • Review and approve artwork requests for accuracy and completeness
  • Contribute to the Project Risk Assessment process by outlining all potential packaging risks and developing a plan of action to mitigate them
  • Oversee and manage package testing such as drop and transit testing to ensure the durability and integrity of the package
  • Responsible for managing the deco sample process, including obtaining approvals and requesting revisions as needed, to ensure accurate and high-quality packaging design – including coordinating range boards
  • Develop package specifications in database and validate technical drawings
  • Coordinate and prepare product samples for photoshoot, retailer, and internal meetings
  • Support sustainability efforts by researching and evaluating new materials while keeping a pulse on industry trends, innovations, etc.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities and works with manager to implement solutions
  • Offer technical support to the quality team in addressing any quality issues and actively participate in resolving packaging-related quality concerns.
  • Train, manage, and support the Packaging Coordinator to ensure they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in their role
  • Request quotes and work with Sourcing to manage cost sheets while ensuring projects meet cost targets
  • Communicate and resolve timeline challenges, provide updates on project milestones, and inform appropriate teams of technical and timing issues to ensure seamless project execution
  • Actively participate in tradeshows and supplier meetings to stay informed about the latest innovations and trends in packaging
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in Package Development for a cosmetics brand
  • Luxury experience is preferred, but not required
  • Meticulous attention to detail, organized and agile
  • Creative thinker, innovative, and impeccable aesthetic eye
  • Strong skills in anticipating needs and demonstrating a proactive approach
  • Comfortable asking questions
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Positive personality: able to take on new challenges as they come and to switch gears immediately when necessary
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Must be able to work from Corporate Office at least 60% of the time

The expected base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $105,000 per year. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.

This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.
