The MongoDB Communications team is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Sr. Manager of Influencer and Advocacy Programs to own the success of two key marketing channels. This is an opportunity to be the central internal owner of our external developer influencer program and our internal employee advocacy program.

You will be responsible for building the operational framework, defining success metrics, and creating the closed-loop system that measures the business impact of these investments. We are looking for someone who lives at the intersection of developer culture and digital influence—a creative, data-driven storyteller who understands how developers engage, share, and build community online. They should bring hands-on experience scaling influencer programs globally, with fluency in social trends, digital platforms, and creator ecosystems that drive real-world awareness and trust for technical audiences.

As MongoDB continues scaling our developer data platform and redefining how organizations build with data and AI, our storytelling has never been more critical.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in San Francisco for our hybrid working model.

As the Sr. Manager, Influencer and Advocacy Programs, you will:
  • Own the Closed-Loop Program: Design, implement, and own the reporting framework to drive continuous improvement. You will be responsible for tracking and analyzing data to connect influencer and advocacy activities directly to key business outcomes, such as sign-ups, feature adoption, and event attendance
  • Strategic Program Ownership: Own the program strategies for both influencer and advocacy initiatives. You will set the goals, define the KPIs, and manage the program budgets, ensuring a strong return on our investment
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Act as the central hub for all things influencer and advocacy-related within MongoDB. You will work closely with Developer Advocacy, Product Marketing, and Social Media teams to integrate programming into broader campaigns and ensure a cohesive message
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Regularly analyze the performance of influencer and advocacy campaigns and the overall programs. You will deliver clear, concise reports to leadership and key stakeholders, providing actionable insights and recommendations for optimization
  • Influencer Resource Enablement: Equip external partners with the necessary product messaging, technical resources, and content assets they need to effectively manage influencer relationships and campaigns
  • Employee Advocacy Platform Management: Own the day-to-day operations and administration of the MongoDB Advocacy platform (Sprinklr), including managing user access, publishing content, and acting as the primary point of support
  • Advocacy Content Curation and Approval: Curate, schedule, and publish a steady stream of relevant content (blogs, videos, announcements) for employees to share. Review, approve, or reject content submitted by users, ensuring it aligns with MongoDB’s voice, tone, and has all required reporting fields (campaigns, regions, etc.) correctly configured
  • Targeted Content Strategy: Manage and publish targeted content streams, such as the "Thought Leadership" list, to ensure key messages reach specific internal audiences like executives
  • Internal Engagement and Gamification: Drive program adoption and engagement by owning and distributing the weekly advocacy newsletter. You will also manage the quarterly leaderboard program, including identifying and announcing winners across AMER, APAC, and EMEA, and distributing Bonusly rewards
What You'll Bring

We're looking for a candidate with a passion for and expertise in influencer strategy who excels at managing external partners, collaborating cross-functionally, and has a proven track record of owning successful, data-informed marketing programs.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in program management, partner marketing, or agency management, preferably within a B2B or developer-focused tech company. Direct experience managing marketing agencies is a strong plus
  • Employee Advocacy Experience: Proven experience managing an employee advocacy program, preferably using a major platform like Sprinklr, Bambu, or GaggleAMP
  • Proven Success: A demonstrated history of managing third-party relationships and internal programs to deliver measurable business results. You can speak to how you've guided external partners and internal stakeholders to achieve goals
  • Data-Driven Mindset: You are highly analytical and expert at using data to measure performance, demonstrate ROI, and drive strategic decisions11. You think in terms of closed-loop reporting
  • Exceptional Communication & Stakeholder Management: You possess world-class communication skills, with the ability to manage external partners while effectively aligning internal stakeholders and reporting up to leadership
  • Strategic Thinker: You can see the big picture and translate broad business objectives into a clear, actionable strategy for both external partners and internal programs
  • Ecosystem Knowledge: A strong understanding of the developer landscape, including key platforms (YouTube, Twitch, X, blogs, etc.) and the type of content that resonates with a technical audience
  • Internal Community Building: A passion for building internal community and a track record of using gamification, newsletters, and rewards to drive engagement and program adoption
  • Project Management Skills: Excellent organizational and operational skills with the ability to oversee complex projects and hold external partners and internal teams accountable to deadlines and deliverables

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
