Summary:

This role is responsible for assisting in and ensuring all sites within their assigned Segment and/or Region develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve PCI’s EHS programs, policies, procedures and processes to maintain and exceed compliance with applicable EH&S regulations. The position will also support sites in achieving their EHS goals and objectives to ensure PCI’s Global EHS goals and objectives are met. This involves actively engaging and involving both the site Management teams and employees

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Site Leadership teams and site EH&S staff to support and ensure EHS policies, programs, procedures, and processes that comply with PCI requirements and exceed regulatory requirements are developed, implemented, and maintained.

  • Support and ensure processes that focus on continually improving employee engagement within the segment are developed, implemented, and maintained within the segment.

  • Complete routine visits to sites to audit and ensure compliance with PCI EHS policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, support EH&S staff, support employee engagement in EH&S, and ensure all staff are supporting EH&S.

  • Ensure site job tasks are appropriately analyzed and assessed for risk on a regular basis and that those risk assessments are utilized to identify, develop, and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

  • Effectively utilize PCI’s EHS data management system(s) to analyze trends and implement strategies to address and effectively control identified trends.

  • Coach Leadership teams on interpretation and administration of EHS policies and procedures.

  • Assist with development and delivery of the PCI EH&S educational development program.

  • Partner with the Global Industrial Hygiene team to ensure compliance with PCI and regulatory Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology requirements including Health Hazard Assessments, Hazard Data Sheets, Air and Noise Sampling, and IH control implementation and utilization.

  • Lead the development and implementation of Safety and Environmental Management systems within the segment.

  • Assist with completion of and response to customer and regulatory inspections and audits.

  • Ensure sustainment and continuous improvement of EHS employee engagement initiatives including Behavior Based Safety, Safety Suggestions, EH&S Committees, and similar.

  • Ensure EHS training is effective in risk reduction and meets regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure incident investigations are being completed to identify appropriate causes and corrective actions and that corrective actions are being completed and sustained.

  • Ensure required site environmental inspections are effectively completed, environmental requirements/regulations are adhered to, and environmental data is maintained to meet compliance requirements.

  • Ensure EHS design reviews are completed for: property acquisitions, new construction, new or changed process, and new or changes to equipment and identified risks are mitigated.

  • Ensure compliance with the recordkeeping regulations and ensure work related injuries/illnesses are managed in accordance with regulatory requirements, insurance requirements, and PCI’s Occupational Health requirements.

  • Ensure effective processes are in place to ensure: the accuracy of, employee accessibility to, and compliance with Safety Data Sheets, Chemical Inventories, and Product Health Hazard Assessments.

  • Provide EHS technical expertise for the segment; stay abreast of current and emerging technical and professional aspects of EHS.

  • Identify opportunities for and ensure site EHS staff allocates appropriate time to professional development.

  • This position will require international travel to other PCI sites.

  • This position may require extra hours and/or weekend work.

  • Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.

  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in EHS related field and 10 or more years related work experience

  • Advanced EH&S related certifications (i.e. CSP, CIH, CMIOSH, EurOSHM, or equivalent)
    Familiarization and experience with: business continuity plans, serious incident and fatality (SIF) prevention techniques, safety management systems, industrial hygiene, environmental regulations, prevention through design, and organizational/safety culture development.

  • College Level Mathematical Skills

  • Advanced Computer Skills: Ability to perform the most complex computer tasks and operate various computer programs.

  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs

  • Very High Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math or diagram form and deal with several abstract/concrete variables

  • High Standard of Report Writing

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

  • Ability to effectively present information to various people as the job requires

  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in EHS related field

  • Experience leading other EHS related staff

  • Experience in pharmaceuticals and/or bio-pharmaceuticals industry or similar

The base salary hiring range for the Sr. Manager, EHS position is $119,600 - $134,550 plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including but not limited to specific and relevant experience, education, credentials, geography, and subject matter expertise. PCI offers full-time employees a competitive benefits package that includes paid time off, health insurance coverage (including dental and vision), flexible spending account, and 401(k).
