Maxar Space is currently seeking a Sr. Manager of Cost Estimation to join our team in Palo Alto CA. This position can be performed remotely within the U.S. In this role you will be responsible for leading estimating efforts across a robust pipeline for US Government and Commercial pursuits.
In order to be successful in this role, you must have a very strong knowledge of compliant estimating practices for US Government contract proposals. You will also be cognizant of processes and procedures related to estimating and look for ways to streamline. This includes training as well across multiple teams within the organization.

• The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $115,000.00 - $191,000.00 annually.
• The base pay for this position within New Jersey is: $115,000.00 - $191,000.00 annually.
• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $126,000.00 - $210,000.00 annually.
• The base pay for this position within California is: $132,000.00 - $220,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.

Responsibilities:
- Cost & Price complex satellite systems. Coordinate with FP&A (costing) to produce pricing schedules, including Return on Invested Capital (ROIC), P&L impact.
- Support FP&A team in improving processes to deliver DCAA compliant reporting data
- Help design and build cost models for new products and put processes in place to ensure accurate new business forecasting
- Develop, modifying and executing policies and procedures that affect immediate operations
- Conduct training around estimating processes
- Develop and maintain tools to support proper and compliant estimating processes
- Audit Basis of Estimates for proposal submission
- Partner with Program Management, Business Development and Contracts in the proposal development process
- Assist in the development of cost volumes for government contracting proposals
- Investigate, analyze and summarize comparative cost history information from the financial systems and MRP tool.
- Assist management in decision making with a focus on financial considerations
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. 4 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
- 15 years of experience, including FP&A and a proven track record of increased responsibility
- Aerospace industry experience and understanding of the FAR, CAS, DFAR, and NASA FAR supplement
- Understanding of estimating methodologies
- Experience supporting submittal of USG compliant proposals
- Experience with USG approved proposal pricing tools (Propricer preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA
- Superior analytical skills, combined with excellent business judgment and strong ability to clearly and concisely communicate with senior management level personnel
- Proficient in using MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Active team player and works well under pressure
- Organized, detail oriented individual with ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy of information
- Integrity with confidential information
- Creativity in solving complex problems
- Ability to work independently in support of team objectives
- Exposure to Financial database software tools
- Demonstrated outstanding financial leadership skills and expertise with an emphasis on translating financial insights into operational recommendations.
