The Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement / Altium Performance System (APS) plays a critical leadership role in advancing operational excellence across the manufacturing network. This leader is responsible for driving the implementation and sustainability of the Altium Performance System (APS) while partnering with Regional Operations leadership to deliver measurable improvements in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Employee Engagement. This role acts as a strategic partner to Regional Vice Presidents, Plant Managers, and Operations leaders, ensuring APS becomes the way the business operates by driving loss elimination, capability building, and disciplined daily management routines. The Senior Manager will coach plant leadership teams and CI practitioners to strengthen operational rigor, accelerate performance improvement, and develop sustainable systems that enable plants to consistently deliver results. This position requires a strong change agent with deep manufacturing experience, a passion for developing people, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

APS Deployment and Operational Excellence

  • Lead the implementation and maturity progression of the Altium Performance System (APS) across assigned regional manufacturing sites.
  • Drive performance improvement through the structured deployment of APS elements including:
    • Safety
    • Quality
    • Daily Management / Tiered Accountability
    • Autonomous Maintenance
    • Planned Maintenance
    • Focused Improvement
    • Continuous Skills Development

 

  • Partner with Operations leadership to identify, prioritize, and eliminate operational losses impacting OEE, Cost to Manufacture (CTM), and plant productivity.
  • Ensure APS tools and routines translate into measurable operational and financial performance improvements.

 

Loss Elimination and Performance Improvement

  • Partner with Regional Vice Presidents and Plant Leadership to develop and execute structured loss elimination roadmaps.
  • Facilitate plant-level improvement initiatives targeting major operational losses.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute improvement projects that deliver sustainable performance gains.
  • Coach site teams in the use of structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve chronic losses.

 

Leadership and Capability Building

  • Build operational excellence capability across the network by training and coaching plant leadership, CI practitioners, and frontline teams.
  • Develop strong APS practitioners who can sustain the system locally.
  • Reinforce the importance of daily management routines, standard work, Leader Standard Work and accountability systems to drive performance.
  • Provide hands-on coaching on the plant floor to ensure APS is embedded into daily operations.

 

Governance and System Sustainability

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of APS standards, tools, and training materials in collaboration with APS Element Owners.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency in APS implementation across the network.
  • Lead APS assessments and maturity reviews to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Reinforce a culture of discipline, ownership, and continuous improvement across operations.

 

Required Experience

  • 10–15 years of manufacturing experience, with significant exposure to Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence systems
  • Demonstrated experience leading Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing, or similar production systems
  • Proven ability to lead change and influence across multiple levels of the organization
  • Strong experience working directly with plant leadership teams to drive operational performance
  • Demonstrated ability to develop teams and build CI capability within manufacturing environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable improvement plans
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills

 

Preferred Experience

  • Manufacturing experience in high-volume, continuous manufacturing environments (rigid plastics experience a plus)
  • Experience deploying structured operating systems such as TPM, Lean, IWS, or similar systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field

 

Additional Role Requirements

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Self-starter capable of driving initiatives with minimal supervision
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills across functional and operational teams
  • Remote-based role with significant travel (75%) required to support plant operations
    • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.
