About the Role
Yahoo reaches hundreds of millions of users around the world, and over the past 18 months we have thoughtfully reimagined nearly every pixel across our core products. From significant product enhancements to the beta launch of the Yahoo Scout AI answer engine, we are focused on delivering smarter, more intuitive experiences that meet the evolving needs of our users. Yahoo is looking for a seasoned, strategic Senior Manager of Communications to support some of our most visible and widely used consumer products, including Yahoo Search, Yahoo Scout, and Yahoo Mail, and to help tell the story of this continued product evolution.
This person will help oversee external communications strategy and execution in support of this next phase of product innovation. In this role, you will shape how Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Search, and Yahoo Scout are positioned with consumers, advertisers, partners, and industry stakeholders, translating complex AI-driven product advancements into clear and compelling narratives. Operating within a highly collaborative, matrixed organization, you will partner closely with product, marketing, brand, and other cross-functional teams to drive proactive storytelling, manage reactive issues, and secure meaningful earned coverage that reinforces Yahoo's role in people's digital lives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive proactive and reactive communications strategies for Yahoo Search, Yahoo Scout, and Yahoo Mail
Partner closely with product, marketing, brand, and legal teams to align communications plans with product launches, campaigns, and company priorities
Pitch and secure coverage with top-tier media and influencers, tailoring stories for varying platforms
Identify, secure and support speaking opportunities for Yahoo executives at industry events, conferences, and owned moments
Create and maintain high-quality briefing documents, messaging frameworks, press materials, FAQs, and talking points
Support and help manage communications for senior executives, including media prep, interview coordination, and strategic counsel
Monitor the media landscape and cultural trends to identify opportunities and risks, and respond quickly when issues arise
Collaborate with agency partners to scale efforts and extend reach
Measure and report on communications impact, using insights to refine future strategies
Qualifications
7-10+ years of experience in communications, and media relations for consumer technology or digital products -Specific experience working on consumer AI products is a plus
Proven experience working cross-functionally with product and marketing teams in a fast-moving environment
Strong track record of media relationship building, and securing meaningful coverage
Experience supporting or managing communications for senior executives
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex product features into clear, engaging stories
Strategic thinker who can balance long-term narrative building with fast, reactive decision-making
Highly collaborative, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities at once
Experience collaborating with and managing agency partners
Excellent project management skills with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline
A self-starter and a team player ready to roll up their sleeves, get creative, and achieve results

The compensation for this position ranges from $110,625.00 - $230,625.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
