We are on a journey to build a set of new generation database tools to build, manage and operate various databases in AWS with a “infrastructure as code” mindset and migrating databases from our On-Prem private cloud to AWS. We use various database RDBMS and NoSQL technologies. We support multiple databases platforms - running on both private and public cloud infrastructure - powering the world’s largest ticketing system and serving 170M customers. Sr. Manager – Cassandra Team
Job Description
- Manager a team with 5 - 8 team members, FTEs and CTEs, which provide 24*7 support to the company’s critical data platform.
- Provide vendor management, budget management and contract management assistant to the leadership.
- Evaluate user requests, requirements and growth of the noSQL services and provide the solution to meet the department goals, including onboarding procedure build and practice, self-services tools feature specs written and implementation, cost analyzes and forecasting, security hardening, agnostic monitoring solution for both OnPrem and Public Cloud, define the success metrics and measure the success.
- Conduct company’s strategic planning, respond to Sr leadership for goal setting, initiative and implementation
- Practice and apply engineering principles on day to day work (scrum and agile) and guide the team into the same mindset.
- During resource constraints, serve as backfill of other internal team members’ duties
- Promote our managed services and provide consultations to the engineering teams to ensure the right technology/managed services are leveraged for their applications.
- Act as a tech lead on large scale projects to manage multiple resources, budget forecast, respond to sr leadership, manage the timeline of delivery and the quality of the delivery.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of managing team experience.
- 8+ years experience working with distributed key-value databases and systems, design and operation, such as but not limited to AWS DynamoDB, Apache Cassandra, ScyllaDB, DataStax Enterprise, and/or DataStax Luna.
- 5+ years of experience with AWS environment and familiar AWS network components related to running distributed databases, such as but not limited to VPC, Subnets, IGW, Security Groups and Route Tables.
- 5+ years of experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform or others), can orchestrate and automate complex administrative tasks.
- Strong understanding of the concept of distributed databases/systems introduced in Amazon’s Dynamo Paper.
- Strong conceptual understanding of the major distributed databases and systems which are inspired by the concepts introduced in Dynamo Paper.
- Experience and strong capability of driving new technologies adaption to the organization.
- Have successful experience of driving multi-years large scope projects end to end.

- Know your way around Linux and the Unix Shell.
- Have a strong propensity to work independently as well as willing to collaborate with others.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.

The expected compensation for this position is:
$160 000,00 USD - $200 000,00 USD** Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
