Position Overview

Yahoo Brand Studio supports all custom built and designed advertiser work - inclusive of ads and content - for the Yahoo Ads business. As the Sr. Manager, Ad Engineering Lead, you will be a key part of the Yahoo Brand Studio leadership team, ushering our advertiser creative and technical solutions into the future. We are looking for technical, full-stack talent with a startup mindset to lead the engineering team that will build out ad solutions for Yahoo Ads’ clients across North America. 

Responsibilities Include

  • Team Management: Lead a small, high performing team that focuses on frontend engineering and interactive development for ad and content experiences for advertisers. Ensure high quality execution for the team across all formats and devices. 

  • Front End & Back End Engineering Experience: Ability to oversee and influence across the full stack of solutions. 

  • Ad Platform Optimization: Collaborate with our creative tooling partner to optimize ad creation workflows, enhance tracking, introduce responsive ads, and integrate additional ad components. Support feature development such as API connectors, workflow enhancements, and expanded reporting capabilities.

  • Component Development: Create, maintain, and enhance interactive ad components such as galleries, countdown timers, mini-games, scratch-off effects, and other high-impact ad features.

  • Ad Framework Development: Maintain and enhance the ACE CLI framework, which supports all Yahoo Creative-produced ads globally, ensuring consistent performance and scalability.

  • Tech Infrastructure Maintenance: Build, maintain, and enhance key platforms such as Ad Showcase, Ad Specs, and supporting tools that power Yahoo Creative’s ad solutions.

  • Ad Template/Smartform Development: Build and maintain ad templates that serve as boilerplates for various ad sizes and execution types, transitioning towards Smartform development for internal and external users. 

  • Product Innovation & Development: Concept and develop new ad formats in collaboration with Yahoo Publishers, Monetization, and Sales teams. Drive the ad innovation roadmap to remain competitive in market and meet advertiser needs. 

  • Technical Client Consultation: Interface with clients to resolve technical issues and develop solutions for complex ad creative concepts that require custom builds and execution. 

  • Process Documentation & Training: Create, maintain and update process documentation, best practices, and FAQs for use by cross-functional teams. 

Job Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in ad engineering, with a minimum of 3 years managing an engineering team at a digital publisher or creative agency. 

  • Expertise in digital display advertising, including standard IAB units, proprietary ad formats, native and video. 

  • Deep understanding of tools, apps and systems including Javascript, React, GraphQL, Webpack, Node, NextJS, and CI/CD workflows. 

  • Ability to provide technical leadership on high impact, high visibility, high revenue projects. You have expertise in the full lifecycle of a product - developing, coding, testing, reviewing, launching, troubleshooting, optimizing. 

  • Highly independent leader who can motivate teams with a client-first, solutions-focused, can-do attitude. When you see roadblocks, you clear them. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment – you are well organized, have excellent attention to detail, meet tasks on short deadlines and know how to prioritize towards revenue. You’re highly adaptable and thrive in a constantly evolving space.

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
