What does it mean to be a Sr Manager, Accounting?

The Senior Manager, General Ledger (GL) Accounting, will oversee the daily operations of the accounting team and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financials in accordance with US GAAP. This role involves managing the month-end close process, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. You possess an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and have extensive experience managing complex accounting issues. You are highly skilled in leadership, communication, and strategic planning, and have built strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Your ability to forecast business and understand financial reporting is exceptional. You are a subject matter expert both internally and externally and serve as an escalation point for complex accounting issues. You are known for taking on tasks outside of your immediate responsibilities, including assisting in training efforts and leading special projects. You are proficient in using financial software and other accounting tools to drive results and support the organization's financial objectives.  You drive leadership engagement to produce a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the team and organization achieve its objectives. Also, you need to develop an effective team by building strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills, knowledge, and perspectives to achieve common goals.  You must be able to provide critical thinking and the ability to solve problems related to accounting and how it will affect other segments of Ingram’s business.  Your critical thinking is used to drive change, make smart/calculated decisions, and reduce the risk for the organization.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Possess specialized knowledge in accounting and finance and is recognized as a subject matter expert within the function.  

  • Manages large projects and processes independently with limited oversight from upper management.  

  • Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower-level professionals, ensuring their development and growth within the organization. 

  • Regularly faces difficult and complex problems and provides solutions to a variety of advanced technical projects or business issues that require state-of-the-art technical or industry knowledge.  

  • Influences others regarding policies, practices, and procedures and collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to drive results.  

  • Demonstrates a complete understanding and wide application of advanced technical principles, theories and concepts in a specialized field, and may serve as the inhouse expert on specific technologies or within the job function area.  

  • Possesses broad knowledge of the professional field and other related functions and stays up to date on industry trends and regulations. 

  • Receives goals in the form of desired results and determines and develops approaches to solve functional area-related issues, while ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.  

  • Possess the strongest of skills acquired through advanced training, study and experience.  

  • Proficient in Accounting Software 

  • Strong communication skills, verbally and written. 

  • Ability to make significant contributions to the company. 

  • Critical Thinking and problem-solving skills a must

  • Strong financial and business acumen

  • Ability to manage a team of professionals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required.

  • CPA or MBA preferred along with 10-plus years of related financial and accounting responsibilities.

  • Experience in both public and private accounting is preferred.

  • Must have strong GL and SOX experience.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong accounting and US GAAP background

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $110,600.00 - $188,100.00 per year.

The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate’s primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.

At Ingram Micro certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus or sales incentives and long-term incentives. These awards are allocated based on position level and individual performance.
